FANCY McRICHPANTS PUNCH
A Moonshine Punch
Two weeks ago my buddy invited us to lunch this Saturday. As per usual, we were responsible for dessert or salad (we opted for dessert - amazing PB & Choco bars) and a cocktail. If you can't tell, I've gotten just a wee bit serious about my drinks (Hey! I've got an ultramicro-level rep on the line now 😅) So what did I do? Asked what's on the menu so I can make something that pairs well 🤓
The menu was amazing, but a little autumnal. It's 101°F (that like what, 40-odd °C?) And now I gotta pair a drink with brussel sprouts, squash, spiced beef & hummus (#IfYouDontKnowNowYouKnow), and cholent (#GoogleIt) and try to keep it refreshing and summery. Where else does one turn to in these instances? @theflavorbible, of course!
Apples, peaches, sweet white wines, vermouth, and berries were all hits on several of the flavor tables. Oh, snap! I've got all that! Just to be safe, I checked @deathandcompany's #modernclassiccocktails Flavor Buddies and Punch recipes for extra inspiration and guidance. They added chamomile to get mix and their blueprints are always excellent. I felt the need to add moonshine, after a little commenting with @budgetbartender. Glad I did cause it's really the standout in the drink. It lifts the punch the way only an agricole or other funky flavor really can. The last problem was that it had no name, but fortunately it earned a name during a hilarious conversation at the meal.
Here's where I ended up:
Blueberries: 30 berries
House Strawberry Gum Syrup: 4oz
Apple Juice: 3oz
Lemon Juice: 3oz
Chamomile-infused @vermouthdolin Blanc: 3oz
@lairdsapplejack Straight Apple Brandy: 3oz
@ejbrandy Peach: 3oz
@chartreuse_uk Yellow: 2oz
@olesmoky Moonshine: 2oz
Club Soda: 3oz
@bartenurablue Asti: 3oz
✓ In a pitcher, muddle 15 blueberries with strawberry syrup and club soda. Add remaining non-sparkling ingredients, fill pitcher 3/4 with ice & stir, pour over a large ice block or add more ice, Asti, remaining blueberries, and #drinkup!
