My favorite #tbt every year is Memorial Day weekend 2013. It’s the weekend I packed up my car with a few basic belongings, a little bit of cash, and a lot of optimism. It’s the weekend I moved to Colorado. Everyone I knew was flabbergasted at the idea of why I would choose Denver unless I had some awesome job pulling me out here. But I had actually known for years that I wanted to move here when I graduated. No job lined up, only a 2 month sublease in an apartment roughly worked out, and no idea what I was going to do. Just a cocky state of mind and enough dollars to figure it out. Yet, against the odds here I am 5 years later. It’s gone by SOOO fast, which is only further testament for how great of a choice it was. It hasn’t been all lollipops and rainbows during that time, but nonetheless I have to stop every once in a while when I’m angry or have a long day in general to remind myself that I live in one of the best all-around places on Earth. So this Memorial Day weekend in addition to remembering the lost husbands, wives, children, fathers, mothers, sisters, brothers and important family figures that have endured the peril and pain that this holiday is dedicated to, I urge you to be fearless, committed, and inspired this weekend.
