We all know that it is impossible to remove colorist and racist people from society 😠 cause some people are insane beyond help so it's important that we start cherishing those words in any particular encounter with insane people. Be proud to be black or south indian... love your melanin furiously❤❤❤. When you accept these words ,you are not only promoting self-love but also pave a way to eliminate discrimination towards black people and south indians...❤❤❤ #colorisminindia #colorism #racisminindia #racism #colorismisstupid #colorismisugly #colorismisracism #colorismisbullshit #colorismisalive #colorismislame #colorismiseverywhere #colorismisreal #colorismiswrong #indianpeoples #india #selflove #stopdiscrimination #darkskin #darkskinlove #darkandlovely #blackpeople #lovely #darkisbeautiful #darkskinisbeauty #darkskinisbeautifulskin #darkskinmatter #darkskinlove #loveeachother

In north india, people(colorist people) use words like black or south indian as an insult to dark skinned people and i think it's time that people stop doing this cause being a black person or south indian(many people in south india have dark skin) or having dark skin is not something to be ashamed of and anyone with sane mind knows that... #colorism #racism #colorisminindia #colorismisstupid #colorismisalive #colorismislame #colorismisracism #colorismisbullshit #colorismisreal #colorismisreal #colorismisugly #colorismiseverywhere #darkandbeautiful #loveblackpeople #blackisbeautiful #blackisbeauty #darkskinlove #darkskinmatter #darkskinisbeautifulskin #darkskins #brownandbeautiful #southindia #southindian #lovelypeople #shadism #insanepeople #indianpeople #indianmedia #darkandlovely

In Chapter 5, I tackle colorism. Something many do not believe exist or place at the feet of whites.

Understand the first time it was brought to my attention that something was wrong with being darker complexioned was from children who looked like me and my grandmother.
Out of 32 years, my complexion has been judged for public ridicule outside my race, once. (I understand race is a construct)

Not negating others have executed it. Just wondering when responsibility comes in for how we have internalized programming. How we use it against each other when beneficial. Big or small.
I'm tackling areas people aren't necessarily ready to enter. Or disagree with. But my job as a writer, as creative, is not to appease.
It is to tell truths. Buried. And blind eyed.

It’s taken a long time to fall in love with myself, and there is still progress to be made. Growing up, I experienced a lot of bullying from all corners. Classmates, friends, family, and random people on the street always had something to say about who I was and why I was ugly.
I grew up with typical #browngirl problems like the fair and lovely struggle. What amplified this #colorism oppression for me, though, was my odd proportion. My body was coerced into puberty at the tender age of 9. Yes, I had breasts as a 9 year old. I also had acne. Really, really bad acne. I also stopped growing after hitting 5 feet and was endowed with wide hips. All this in the summer after fourth grade. My teeth were extremely crooked and my front teeth actually stuck out at a 30 degree angle. To say that I needed a cosmetic intervention would be an understatement.
I will continue to talk about my #healingjourney experience on appearance. Trust me y’all, there’s so much material on this I could write a three series book on it 😂. Publishers, you reading this?! ...I’ve got scars from the acne and I’m still tan skinned. Some people can’t recognize me from one season to the next because my skin shades change sometimes quite drastically from the amount of sun exposure. I love my skin though. Like, love. My skin is so freakin golden! ☀️ I truly am sun kissed with that natural bronzer glow, yes. That’s me.
I have so much more to say but I’m going to leave it for future posts. I want you all to know that all the content I put up on this page is truly a part of my own healing journey. I am undoing all the damage from the pervasive colonizing norms that shaped my life. I recognize today just how damn beautiful I am. All praise is due to my Lord! No colonizer can convince me that I’m ugly. Not today, not ever.
Tell me about you. How do you see yourself? What have you rejected from the colonizer’s beauty standards? Let’s heal together 💐

In my opinion POC (brown/indigenous, black/African, Asian people) cannot be racist. Racism is a belief that one’s race is superior to all others but it is and is backed up by a system that is set in place within society. Yes POC Can be discriminatory towards people in their own group or other POC but most of the time when a person of color is seen as being “racist” towards a white person they’re either 1: telling them straight up facts and the white person is offended by the truth. 2, they say “________ white people” because their are too many of them participating in the bs to just say some or 3, they say an insult to or about a white person//white people out of anger but it was never based on the belief that they/their people are superior and they have no power in society anyway, so even if that was the case which most of the time it’s not. That comment will be nothing more than a comment. That comment will not determine where you get a job, how/where you live, what rights you can have and not have, etc. You won’t even remember that comment in the next few weeks or months. Do not compare this imaginary “struggle” that white people so called go through to the daily struggle POC especially black, indigenous, POC immigrants/migrants, dark skinned POC have to face at the hand of the white community. DEAR BLACK WOMEN ,
STOP. BEGGING. THESE. NIGGAS. TO. LOVE. YOU . “ I only like BLACK B’s with nice hair” There is no such thing as a “PREFERENCE” in the AFRICAN AMERICAN community . Physical features that are exclusive to the Oppression and marginalization of African people , Is a “preference” that is rooted and stemming from SELF HATE . SO IT IS NOT VALID. Know your worth , know your history . Don’t let the internet make you question your worth . —————
F your preference that’s Stems from SELF HATE . All black hair is good hair . Before you ever address black women , and want to talk about black women , good or bad TELL THAT TO YOUR BLACK MOTHER , SEE IF SHE LIKES IT . Your black mother is never excluded from the remarks you make about black women ! I’m ashamed at the black women and men that rather mock and ridicule black women that are upset instead of calling out problematic men who make degrading comments on black women . He said what he said and he meant it , which is fine but stop making excuses and saying it’s a “preference” ! That comment was made weeks ago but the topic is very relevant to everyday life !

“I’m a victim brother...even my conditioning has been conditioned..." Coming back to this chameleon street skit, which perfectly describes today’s “conditioning” in society where the lighter skinned are more desirable, in not just the black community, but globally.
