The Twins - my number one #studio project this #semester at TU Vienna. These pictures feature the two cohesive #concrete models that I built in order to show the #concept of my #design.
It's based on Maison Cassandre, an atelier built by Auguste #Perret. The task was to take something that inspires you about this very iconic building and create something entirely new with it that should evolve from a first concept - as seen here - to a finished design project with finalized #plans and #construction details by the end of next semester. By now I finished this first semester of the subject and am gonna upload the results in the near future, that refined this early #prototype. They include a larger scale, more detailed #architecturalmodel, floorplans, a site plan and sections.
This first step as seen here was my take on the design of the original #facade. It consists of multiple similar windows being arranged carefully and in an overspanning harmony, that is composed similar to historic #paintings on canvas with a huge focus lying on proportions. I took this same approach and thought up my own design while also trying to highlight the depth to the underlying system even more by creating lifted and lowered windows and putting them into two seperate buildings that are seemingly the same but still different, featuring unique vibes. One is the positive model, while the other is the negative one. They achieve all of that by belonging together and embracing each other - something truly important to me while designing this - "my" - pair of #twins.
