Just a short flight from Seattle is our next SD facility. Welcome to COMSAT’s Santa Paula Teleport. Located in Southern California approximately 70 miles northwest of Los Angeles, this teleport occupies 10 acres operating more than 15 antennas and recently received Full Tier 4 Certification by the World Teleport Association. COMSAT built its Santa Paula facility in 1975 to support its global satellite fleet and ground systems and to maintain its COMSTAR Satellite fleet serving the continental US, Alaska, and Hawaii. The teleport continues to provide mobile and fixed satellite communications coverage for the entire Pacific Ocean Region (POR) from western North America, across the Pacific Ocean and into Asia, the Pacific Rim nations, New Zealand, Australia, eastern Indian Ocean, and South America and operates services in and out of the continental US covering Alaska, Canada, through the Caribbean, and Gulf of Mexico. The COMSAT Santa Paula Teleport serves as an international gateway for Inmarsat since its inception. Its primary charter has been to operate “life and safety” services while providing five nines (99.999%) service availability. As a facility, the Teleport has well exceeded this target over its 40-year history.
