Throwback to the boys tripping out at my neat party trick lol.
This is a great way to firstly, find your transverse abdominis muscle but also to strengthen it to protect from lower back pain and injury. This exercise also helps prepare the core for labour and recovery from childbirth. I do these before i workout, holding for around 10 seconds each time. And also throughout my day whenever i remember. .

Many people think that exercising is hard work; You don't have an hour to yourself, you don't want to put on a sports bra and sneakers, you dont have fancy gym equipment, you want to spend more time with your baby, your baby wants all of your attention, etc... Therefore you think you can't exercise, buuuuuut....FALSE!

I know all too well that after you have a baby, the last thing you want is to feel obligated to exercise (or do anything else, for that matter). And that's totally ok! Exercise shouldnt feel like a chore. You shouldn't have a whole list of excuses ready for not exercising because it becomes something you dread. Instead, sneak exercise into parts of your day (like you sneak veggies into your kids meals). .

Did you know that the rhythmic motion and your heartbeat during exercise can help calm your baby? Next time your little munchkin is crying or wants some extra cuddles, put them in their carrier or cuddle them close while you do some squats, lunges, and balancing exercises. .

I like using blocks under my hands when stepping forward from down dog because it gives me the space to work on more strength & control through the transition.

I have definitely seen people who can step forward with their hands flat on the floor and still move suuuper slowly and strongly 👍🏼

Body proportions can play a role here, and so can people’s level of strength. And so for these people, blocks might not offer as much in this transition.
. . .
But for most bodies (myself included!), a little extra height under the hands is often the perfect addition to help us work our spinal flexion & hip flexion more strongly.

Day 7 #activateyourcore is gluteus medius. This is one of the 3 glute muscles that is located on the outer hip, it abducts the leg, or brings it away from your midline of your body and keeps the pelvis steady when we do things like run. Strengthening this muscle will help you in your yoga practice anytime you need to lift the leg out to the side, so think 1/2 moon pose, side plank with big toe to hand, big toe-to hand pose when the leg is out to the side, puppy press, fire hydrant pose, flying splits and more. Also anytime@you need to stabilize the pelvis when balancing so think plank pose the bottom leg outer hip works here to keep the hips from sinking. Fun with TRX and 1&1/4 reps! Solid work today. Kinda based off Tuesday from two weeks ago... but got some extra stability work with the TRX and a bunch ROM and tension from 1 & 1/4 reps. Big pushes and pulls with some mobility and stability. These TRX fallouts are awesome, very similar to a barbell or Swissball rollout.

Do you use exercise bands? They're great for burnouts at the end of your workouts. They're also a lot safer on certain exercises because the resistance is a lot less when your muscle is stretched, and at a higher risk of injury, and as you contract your muscle the band stretches and the resistance increases.
