Are you off somewhere nice during the #halfterm #break? With a long train or car journey in sight? How do you entertain your toddler / preschooler ?
Last summer, we went to #corwall and back by #train (by that I mean South London to St Ives) that's a 5 and a half train journey with my 21 month old daughter on my lap, plus commuting to #Paddingtonstation !
The usual snacks, books, looking out the window, more snacks, books, milk dance lasted about 45 minutes before she started getting really bored.
So I started #singing to her. First a few nursery rhymes (but then I got bored 😂), and moved on to the tunes we cover at Crib Notes. #popsongs & #traditionalsongs kept us going. She was listening attentively, sometimes even joining in. And the best part: I sang my heart out, without feeling self aware in a crowded carriage (I'm the choir admin, not one of the musical directors by the way, and I can assure you I wouldn't let anyone hear the sound of my singing up to couple of years ago! 🙈). Honestly, I packed a whole lot of books, cuddly toys, colouring books & crayons and all she wanted was singing 😁
