🎅INTERVIEW: BUTTERMILK CHIC BY WENDY🎅
1. What do you love about owning a small shop or what do you love about your products?
🧁1. I opened the shop by total accident. This year has been brutal. The day before Thanksgiving last year my 14 year old son and I went to his dads house and my son went in and found his dad dead in the floor. He had died a few days earlier after we saw him last. To say it was devastating is such an understatement. Out of that, a few months past and we decided to go to Europe and take our son away. After 8 days on the ground in Italy I became deathly sick and had to be evacuated back to the US. They landed the plane in NYC and put me in the hospital and I had developed sudden, out of the blue, blood clots. Dozens of them in both of my lungs. I was super sick to say the least. My fear became that my son would lose me too. I hadn't even had time to mourn and I was fighting for my own life. While in the hospital, I purchased some Dunn online. When I got home to WV, my house was filled with boxes. LOL I fell in love with it immediately. Over the next several months while I was struggling to get back on my feet I started to craft little things and make accessories to go with my collection. People started to ask if I sold them. Before long, I had a shop on etsy and it just kept growing and before I knew it, it was now, some 8 months later and I realize daily that starting my shop, truly saved my life. I became so involved in the day to day of it that I forgot how bad I felt and before long, I started to feel better. Today, I have a clean bill of health and have had time to mourn the loss of my sons father and my days are filled creating pretty things to share with the many people who encouraged me over the last year to keep going when I didn't really feel like it.
