OK first, an apology. I'm in the bath so you're now knowledgeable to the fact that my man particulars are a gnats chuff away from being in this photo (don't bother zooming in on the glass to see if they're 'available', 'cos they ain't. I checked. Many, many times). So if you're comfortable with this fact, read on for a review of a mighty fine beer.
How many of you have walked past @sirencraftbrew to the likes of Verdant, Wylam and Deya (still can't find it up here ) et al? Go on, be honest. Yeah me too. How many of you have made a big mistake? All of you. They make some great beers but this is something special.
This is Broken Dream, a breakfast stout, (an award winning breakfast stout no less) from @sirencraftbrew and it's everything you want from this niche. Oats, bitter chocolate, coffee, cinnamon, smoke, tobacco, roasted malts... All ridiculously well balanced leading to an oily body with an aftertaste of dark fruits and chocolate. It is superb. I can imagine these being a real pain in the arse to produce what with the extra steps of coffee and chocolate etc thrown into the mould but Siren, if you're reading this, don't ever stop.
Unbelievably I've had this in the fridge for months looking for the right time to enjoy to enjoy it. That time is now, along with some black pepper and ginseng bath soak and a book which I have no intention of reading right now (it's all about the 'gram baby ). Cheers!
6.5% ABV. Purchased from I honestly can't remember.
