What do you know about your menstrual cycle?
Over the past year, I have been delving into the process of learning about the different phases of the menstrual cycle and how they play out in our lives.
I wasn't taught much at school about how I would be feeling, how the hormonal changes would affect me and how to best utilize my cycle to my advantage.
I was pushing against my menstrual cycle instead of UTILISING it.
The wisdom I have gathered in this learning process has been truly profound. I cannot believe I didn't find this information sooner. It has helped me in so many ways. I know when to rest, I know when I'm at my most energetic and social self. I am learning to honor my needs in relation to my cycle.
The learning has been so profound that I am currently, with assistance from my cycle, creating an online course to help share the wisdom I have learned. To help you navigate your cycle.
So here is a little nugget:
I am Pre-menstrual, navigating the season of my inner autumn.
Your pre-menstrual phase is a time where you will start to feel a strong call to come back into yourself. To ask your self how you are really feeling and gently retract from the outer world.
Your pre-menstruation tells you where you may have been falling short this cycle. What needs of yours have you not been meeting.
My pre-menstruation came in kicking and screaming this month. I haven't been honoring my needs and me time, journaling, drawing, dancing, baths, you know all the stuff that makes me feel good.
Anxiety and panic came in and wrapped itself around me. I was high as a kite on panic and did not know how to bring myself down to earth. I didn't dare leave my house and ended up making a den in my living room, which I hid in wrapped in a blanket. The only thing that I could bring myself to do was drawing (which is where this piece was created). The message I have learned from my pre-menstruation this month is to take time to BE rather than DO. To engage in the things that fill my cup.
