My first day in the charming city of Hoi An was a real doozy, and minutes after this photograph was taken, I endured the most uncomfortable motorbike ride of my life haha. 😅 ⛈ It was scary and yet so thrilling as I had never found myself in those conditions, which made for a very memorable day 🏍💨
Monsoon season is in full swing over here, and along the coast of central Vietnam the bulk of rain falls between October and November... so yeah, I have perfect timing haha!! 👌🏻🙈 This day the roads were completely flooded, and as locals took to the sidewalks and detours I followed their lead. 👀 The sideways rain came hard and heavy and stung my skin, soaking me from head to toe. I was cold, 🥶 slightly worried, and wildly excited at the same time as I pulled over to wait it out and watch Mother Nature’s lightening show ⛈.
Another highlight of my day- trying my first banh mi at a place recommended by my man Anthony Bourdain ❤️. Banh mi is a traditional Vietnamese baguette stuffed with savory ingredients and delicious flavors. 🥪 I went for the tofu avocado banh mi, and I don’t know what that sauce was, but yeah, it was delish 🥑 😋.
