A flash back to when our Alaskan peony farm won 2014 Alaska Farm Family of the year!
Peony farming has opened up an entirely new agricultural resource for our state. Discovering that Alaska can supply the only #peonies July - September to the world has created an agricultural export that small farms and families can take advantage of!
Get ready world, our #peony harvest starts in July!!
I’m so jealous by all the beautiful sweet pea pictures. It’s the only thing I really REALLY wanted to grow.
My first home sown seedlings frazzled in the early spring heatwaves.
This is the second lot which I bought as seedlings at the end of April.
Day 63 Fallen slightly behind with the #100dayproject but trying best to get back on track now! Today’s drawing is inspired by some delicate white flowers which are coming into bloom from my wildflower seeds
This past weekend was soooo windy Instead of the enjoyable garden time I had planned, I spent most of it running around like a crazy woman picked up fallen plants, holding mini funerals for broken branches (especially the ones just.about.to.flower ), and bemoaning the general state of the garden until I just couldn’t watch anymore. I shut my blinds and dedicated myself to the many chores INSIDE that had gone neglected since spring had “sprung”. I did manage to harvest some flowers from the new cutting garden (in dark moody tones which reflected my feelings- especially when the wind knocked my basket over )! And deep down, I am THANKFUL for the wind because I got so much done indoors and the orchids got lavished with attention
Who else gets ridiculously excited about cut flowers in the house?! Peonies, roses, freesias and alstroemerias. I filled a whole table with them and it cost me £20 - a selection of bunches from Morrison’s and Aldi which I mixed together. Best value by far for flowers in my novice opinion! #flowers#cutflowers#tabledecor#pink
Here’s a little picture from a year ago, we have a busy week ahead of us and if you want flowers for Friday or Saturday this week, please order ASAP (even more important than normal) as we have a massive wedding to set up for this weekend, thanks all.
