Check out our Facebook post on how Undocumented Women are Leading the Way in Immigration Spaces.
Lupe @ambrosiolupe is one of the Co-Directors at NYS Youth Leadership Council (NYSYLC), she's an unapologetic undocumented leader who believes women have the self-agency to create their own spaces to organize and to own their immigration stories.

ARTIST: Andres Montoya “I am a total immigrant. My art speaks... to the current political situation of so many of us and hopefully we can overcome it.” WORK: “Reflection” “A poetic way of looking at the moment when you realize you’re losing someone...and you don’t know - the uncertainty of what’s going to happen to them... and your life is about to change. Which is what happens to all immigrants. When you leave your home town your life changes forever. “ REPRESENTING: Honduras. #pstlala #theloftatlizs #sqrlranglr #ajuuaent @isabelrojaswilliams #andresmontoya #daca #dreamers #immigrantstories @lizsantiquehardware @viewfromaloft #gettymuseum

Similar tales are told everywhere in this country. The author, Julissa Arce, with her simple and direct writing, reminds me in this book of my own struggles and path to citizenship. I, too, was undocumented and I hated, and still do, how dehumanizing the term illegal alien is.
For years I didn't have a voice, I felt caged and trapped, I was lonely missing holidays, birthdays and deaths. My immigration status dictated every choice I made, even whom to love. Determination, hard work, time and a bit of luck were on my favor. The world will never understand unless you make it a case to become informed and to listen to people like me and their stories.
"I FINALLY made it in America. I made it not because I assimilated or because I have a little bit of money. I made it because I earned the right to question the system in which I live and because I have a right to have a voice that can be heard. I've made it because I can disagree and question what America is really all about. I made it because I can demand more from my country." 🇺🇸✈️
