Anxiety is something that we all experience at some stage. Anxiety is considered normal when it is time limited and connected to a stressful event such as an oral presentation at university. For some people, they may experience anxiety on a daily basis and it is not always connected to a stressful event and can impact their daily functioning. For example, someone who experiences social anxiety may avoid going to social gatherings even though they want to spend time with their friends. The mere thought of being in a social setting can be overwhelming for the person. Often I here people say to me that they have had a friend or loved one tell them to “get over it”, referring to the anxiety symptoms they may experience. This is one of the worst things you can say to someone with anxiety. It can reinforce the negative beliefs they have about themselves. I’d imagine that the person experiencing the anxiety has tried numerous approaches to overcome the symptoms they experience. These words are hurtful and most of all unhelpful. Rather one should support the person experiencing anxiety to access help or use the healthy resources they already have. Anxiety is real and has physiological, physical and behavioural symptoms. It is not made up and has helped us with survival. For those people who experience the debilitating affects of anxiety on a daily basis I encourage you to access a psychologist who specialises in CBT for anxiety. There are excellent strategies that can help you have more control over the symptoms. #fit#fitdad#fitness#fitmum#fitmom#rope#coreworkout#dad#psychologist#psychology#anxiety#depression#symptoms#cbt#dbt#panicattack#mentalhealthawareness#mentalhealth#challenge#exercise#gains#ropeclimb#abs#absworkout#strength#underarmour#dadschasinggoals

Super stoked with my effort yesterday at @qldtriseries Raby Bay Rd 4. 3rd in Age Group! Was a great day for it. Shot out of the barrel a bit to quick on the swim and then died, still learning the skills of the bike, but settled in really nicely in my run. Really proved to myself that I want to strive to achieve more in this sport. Setting some strong goals for 2019!
