This is your #DailyGraceCapsule (A Daily Devotional) for today July 21st 2018 with @woleolusola
IN EVERYTHING. “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.” Philippians 4:6
It was Paul’s first day in secondary school and his mother was anxious. Paul was quite small for his age and his mum was anxious that his new class mates would bully him. She had wanted him to go to the same secondary school as his elder sister but that didn’t happen and she was anxious that he wouldn’t be able to take care of himself.
When she dropped him at school that morning, she made sure she got the mobile number of his class teacher. She called at 10am and then at noon to find out how Paul was doing and his teacher said he was fine. By the time she called at 2pm, her calls were not picked.
Anxiety can be defined as a feeling of worry, nervousness or unease typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome. In many cases we find out that what we are actually anxious about ends up not happening.
Without a shadow of doubt, you cannot be at rest and anxious at the same time; both events are mutually exclusive. Apostle Paul led us down the path to the cure for anxiety when he admonished us to hand over all situations to God through prayer, supplication and thanksgiving.
Once we hand over to God, it is over. Therefore, it means that if you cannot pray or give thanks, you will be anxious. Praying and giving thanks when things seems out of control are evidences of rest and peace that passes all understanding.
Point to ponder: - Once we hand over to God, it is over.
Question to consider: - Are you anxious about any situation?
Declaration: - I have handed it all over to God and I am totally at rest in Him.
