Awe, look at me and my cute little pigs. Except, not even close.
I thought, oh I'll just get some pigs to throw in the garden this fall. They'll till it all up all winter and then I'll have the best veggies ever come summer! The only problem is, they won't stay in their damn fence. We've spent the last three weeks "training" them with hot wire in a smaller pen. This picture is me moving them back, all trained, and ready for their new big garden pen. Ha! Right.
Right after my little took this picture, the pigs ran ridiculously around the pasture, then into their new garden pen, and then right out of their new garden pen. Through the grapes, through the orchard, and all over the damn place.
I cursed, I chased, I yelled, I felt defeated and stupid for naively thinking this would be so easy. Tears started to form, but then Matt said "You're not failing, you're trying. And that is farming. And this is how we learn." Damn, he's smart. I sure love that he has my back even though I buy pigs that try to eat his cider apples.
