On my last day in Malmö, I took the train to Humlebæk to visit Louisiana, 35 km (22 mi) north of Copenhagen. I bought a 24 hour ticket through the Skånetrafiken app. That way I could use it the next day to get to CPH 🛫. Located on the coast, it is the most wonderful art museum I’ve experienced. Nature and architecture is harmoniously integrated. You can spend all day within the museum’s grounds. Open until 22:00 on Tuesday-Friday with some nights offering cultural events.
Louisiana’s big cafe has lunch and dinner buffet options of contemporary Danish cuisine prepared with fresh seasonal produce. You can enjoy it with the panoramic views over the Øresund to the coast of Sweden. It was very busy with several lines and I checked two different times. I ended up going for less and had the 🍉 soup 😋. You ask what’s up with the name? Well I heard that the founder, Knud W. Jensen, had several wives - all named - you guessed it.
Standard adult fee is almost $20 USD. I considered buying the membership - invitation to exhibition openings and special events, special offers in the Louisiana Cafe and Shop in addition to the 10% discount plus entry to KUNSTEN and Utzon Center in Aalborg, HEART in Herning and Munchmuseet, Henie Onstad Kunstsenter and Nasjonalmuseet in Oslo. All for under $75 USD/year. But I wasn’t sure if I’d return enough to take advantage - being a citizen of a country in Western Hemisphere.
Free entry under 18.
Highly recommend if you’re ever in Copenhagen.
More on Louisiana in future posts - like the art I saw - 🙄
