JOHN HUNTER NEMECHEK IS TAKING THE NEXT STEP, MOVING TO GANASSI: Although an official announcement is expected later this week, multiple sources have learned that 20-year-old son of NASCAR veteran Joe Nemechek, #JohnHunterNemechek, will be making the leap to the NASCAR Xfinity Series in 2018 driving for #ChipGanassiRacing. Nemechek will share driving duties of the No. 42 Chevrolet Camaro with Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series driver #KyleLarson.
The No. 42 means a great deal to the Nemechek family as John Hunter's father Joe Nemechek, earned his first Cup Series victory in 1999 driving the No. 42 for Sabco Motorsports.
While running in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series the past three seasons, John Hunter has collected five victories, one pole, 22 top-five and 38 top-ten finishes in 76 career starts. He has also made the playoffs in the last two seasons.
With John Hunter moving to the Xfinity Series, what does that mean for his families Truck Series operation, Nemco Motorsports? The organization still plans on competing in the Truck Series in 2018 and is in the process of securing more sponsorship and another driver. John Hunter could also still do some races.
