If there’s one exercise I would encourage everyone to perform on a regular basis it would be the deadlift , or a variation of it ‼️

Any hip hinge dominant movement will put the load on the posterior chain which has been shown to be a key component in strong healthy humans πŸ™‹πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈβœ…
.
It directly targets the glutes , a major weakness in people , which if strengthened can alleviate a myriad of pains including low back πŸ‘βœ…
.
The constant tension provided by these types of lifts are great for building a strong & functional core. They also light up key areas of your back that help with support & stability πŸ—»βœ…
.
Below are a few pointers to help with the correct technique & feel ⬇️
.
1️⃣Start with the bar over mid foot and solidify your grip. 2️⃣Pull your hips back and down on an angle and try to feel your hamstrings tighten to the point of wanting to rip. 3️⃣Then drive your elbows in and squeeze your lats. 4️⃣Lastly, drive your chin back(think double chin) and lift the chest slightly. These cues helped me a lot personally with creating enough tension in the lift to avoid any back pain or discomfort. Start light and film yourself. Don’t increase the weight until your confident with your form and feel the tension where you want it πŸ“½οΈβœ…

This was only the 3rd or 4th day deadlifting this year but thanks to @caribbean_muscles I hit a 50lb PR and then a 90lb PR 🀯

Once I work on my form I’ll be able to get this without his magic chin spotting technique πŸ˜‚ thanks again @knights.gym @caribbean_muscles @lucas_mooneyham14 @joshuahee I can’t wait to come back and move some heavy weights.

As I sit here with my free curry (btw curry is superior to chinese) a thought occurs to me. A wise man once said to me that the gym is much like life - sometimes it goes well, sometimes bad & sometimes it is meh. When it goes well hang on to it’s coattails, enjoy the ride but don’t get complacent. When it goes badly don’t stress it & just get it done.

Deads went well this morning. Worked up to a top set of 585x3. Last rep got a little too far away from me and ended up being harder than it should have. Tried deficit deads for the first time too. 405 for 3x3 really got my heart racing. Overall a good workout. πŸ“½οΈ: @bardi__m
