Definitely did not do great today! Squats were high on first two attempts, but finally got it on the third, so stayed with my opening weight of 485#. Bench went 3/3, so that was nice, but finished with 314#. Deadlift was fun...missed my third attempt as it slipped out of my weak, chubby hand. Definitely four main lessons learned:

1. Remain consistent on methodology. Stick with what works and don't over think it.
2. Bury every squat. Plain and simple I squatted high and I need to leave no doubt.
3. Do your mobility work. My shoulder is getting better, but I need to do my prescribed work consistently.
4. Work on grip strength. I let a totally doable lift slip right out my hand. It would've been about a zillion times cooler to get it.

But in the end, I walked away with no injuries, got to lift with my friends, and most importantly spent the weekend with my wonderful wife, Jenny. Love you bb.

Something I try recommend all our clients to do is to record a few of their main sets from the training week for two reasons:
-
1) To make sure they're training with intensity, and pushing their main sets to the limit.
-
2) To give feedback on their technique, and looking at ways we can improve & optimise future sets. While we can't give real time feedback with online training, what we can do that works very well is give cues & tips that you can implement in the future.
-
Every week I try to video at least a couple sets from my main lifts to see how I can improve, and to ensure that any progress made is genuine overload on the target muscle, not just tweaks in technique to create better leverages.
-
During yesterday's pendulum squats, I noticed my left knee coming in on each rep, so I know for next time to be conscious of that, and importantly, to figure out why.
-
This was the first segment of a brutal rest-paused set that ended up as follows: 10 reps > 30 sec rest > 4 reps > 30 sec rest > 2 reps, and hitting failure and falling out of the machine on the 3rd!
-
Full workout went as follows:
1) Standing Calves 3x12
2) Single Leg Curl 2x8-10
3) RDL 2x6 (1 set heavy, 1 set paused)
4) Smith Front Squat 2x8-12
5) Pendulum Squat 1x8-12, 1xRP set.

Third time doing this workout and it's already at the stage where I'm getting that pre-workout anxiety when writing in my log book - that's exactly how it should when you're training with a progressive mindset to build muscle!
