I’m sharing this excerpt of my poem “Heavy Thoughts” today to acknowledge the importance of being honest about our struggles. It often feels like we’re taught that we’re supposed to pretend to be “fine” so that we don’t seem weak to others, which makes little sense, because there is so much strength in sharing your vulnerabilities. Not only does it offer freedom from feelings of shame or fear, it also opens the door for growth and healing through shared experiences and support. I’ve had a few reunions lately with my old friends depression and anxiety and they wanted me to feel hopeless and lost like before, but this time I know I have like 200 other people who relate to, understand and support me and my struggles. So please know, it’s totally normal and okay to feel overwhelmed, frustrated or defeated, We ALL go through it. The important thing is knowing it’s temporary, no matter how permanent it seems, and that growth is always an option. This is taken from my debut book “Lost in Life’s Ocean,” available now (link in bio). Who else relates?!
