Always happy to show the reality rather than the illusion. It would of been really easy for me to show this as a full paint correction for the purposes of a video. In reality it's a great example what we'd call a single stage paint enhancement or a gloss enhancement.
This is where budget compromises with results. So when I say 60-80% correction what I mean is that we will cut away 60-80% of the defects. In reality the remaining 20-40% are only really visible in certain lights because the massive gloss level increase takes the eye away - any percentage we take is only a fag packet guide as technically it's impossible to actually work it out. The remaining defects are where the really hard graft and additional cost kick in. Also where paint correction moves into its most dangerous phase and needs expert experience and equipment to ensure your paint is not put at risk. I can count the number of cars I've "struck through" with one finger. Some would say that makes me over cautious........ personally I'm quite happy with that!
Tesla Model 3 starting it's life on the road the right way. • Single stage paint preparation polish with SiRamik Prime and several factory inflicted sanding marks removed. • 2x coats of SiRamik SC15 Glasscoat to bodywork, glass and wheels • SiRamik SCVision to front windscreen • SiRamik ICL protecting the leather • Gtechniq Smartfabric protecting the mats and carpets • Sacrificial coat of SiRamik SCMist applied to give additional protection whilst the secondary cure takes place over the next 7 days.
The best time to protect a car is when it's new and dealership coatings are almost always, inferior, poorly applied and virtually as expensive as coming to a professional detailer. PS.....this is the slowest one...5.3 seconds 0-60 😲
Clearly there was some damage to the drivers seat upright bolster which we have taken care of. The owner was keen to keep repairs to a minimum so this was the only area to be repigmented.
The remainder of the leather was cleaned but some Herbert had gone mad with an eBay kit at some point in the distant past and had wiped pigment over the seats leaving an off colour and poorly applied layer that looked very much like dirt.
This is why I spend a lot of time advising customers not to chase perfection. Believe it or not this isn't perfect by any stretch - even though the Sun Gun and the LEDs aren't really showing any defects popping out.
For all practical purposes you just wouldn't spend more money chasing out the defects that are left. In my opinion the first 85-90% of defects are those that are economical to remove. The last 10-15% can break the bank for what is in most practical situations (i.e you are not looking to concourse a car) not even something you'll notice or appreciate that much.
Quick refurbishment on the front end. Just polishing on this job (no wet sanding). Massive improvement. It's unbelievable the difference this job makes not only to the look of the vehicle but also the light disbursement from the headlamp. We had a Micra in a few years ago that was virtually driving by candle light!
Lovely little RS Clio visited us for a couple of day spruce up this week. Thorough decontamination to remove bonded contamination, tar/treesap/fallout deposits. This was followed by a single stage paint enhancement and protection with SiRamik SC15.
