Hello, It’s me!
I took a social media hiatus for a whole week and my life has changed! I disconnected from my accounts, didn’t browse on my feeds, disconnected my personal Facebook app and only hopped in on Twitter for about 5 minutes total...for the whole week!
I felt the need to detox from the social media pressure and didn’t think twice about going for it. It’s crazy what this world of ours has turned into and it’s even crazier when being in the Visual Art Form industry triples the stress and pressure of building, creating, and keeping a social media presence.
During this week without social media I doubled my productivity and was able to focus on much more things. I’ve been working long hours every single day and I’ve been exhausted but haven’t felt any of the overwhelming pressure that comes from social media. I just worked and focused on what’s important to keep bringing more loads of work to my business, and I realized that instead of it being a tool for my work, social media was really taking a hold of me.
I’ve come to understand how important it is to shut down, every once in a while, and to be. Just be! I’m really proud of myself for achieving this ‘social media detox’, for taking it seriously, and being so disciplined about it.
Have you felt this kind of pressure? What works for you when it’s time to disconnect?
