Here’s some tips on how to go out to eat, stay on track with healthy nutrition and enjoy it! Choose before you go! So many restaurants have menus online...if you go into the restaurant with a plan, you’re less likely to look at the menu and see something else that will make you say “screw it” & face plant into some deep fried or creamy goodness! Choose wisely! Did you know that sushi isn’t the best choice?? My husband got sushi but I stay away from the sticky white rice and all the sauces. Ask for a healthy substitution like brown rice. Go for steamed or grilled veggies with lean protein and ask for any dressings or sauces on the side🥦. I mistakenly didn’t do that last night and was so bloated from all the salt in the hibachi. Choose an appetizer to share! 🥣My hubs and I shared chicken lettuce wraps! Ask for to go boxes right away. 🥡🥡I knew if I had one bite of hibachi fries rice, I’d eat the whole bowl...so instead I packed it up to take home for the kids...out of sight, out of mind!
Most importantly, just ENJOY the fact that you’re not cooking or cleaning up!! Woooo hooo!!
Do you ever look at your kids’ plates and want to do a face plant in their fries?!! ♀️ Fries are totally my WEAKNESS so I’m always looking for healthier swaps and this one is pretty good! TURNIP FRIES & I dip them in marinara sauce!
My kids had tater tots the other night and I had these and guess what? I didn’t pick one tater tot off their plates!! If you’re missing the carbs at dinner, give these a try! RECIPE
1-2 tablespoons coconut oil
½ teaspoon garlic powder
sea salt and black pepper, to taste
Marinara sauce to dip
1 Preheat oven to 425 F.
2 Peel turnips and cut into steak fries, about ½ inch thick.
3 In a large bowl, toss all ingredients until turnip fries are well coated.
4 Place in a single layer on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
5 Bake for 20 minutes.
6 Flip fries and bake an additional 15-20 minutes.
