Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018) - I grew up LOVING dinosaurs because of the original Jurassic Park, seriously. To this day, I still own a blanket with dinosaurs on it from the original film to match the rest of my childhood bedroom. It was this reason that I found ‘guilty pleasure’ status with Jurassic World a few years ago. I hadn’t really seen dinosaurs on the big screen since Jurassic Park 3, and I was so excited that I didn’t even care of ridiculous the story was. The more I watch it, the more I realize it’s not a good film, but DINOSAURS GUYS!
Fallen Kingdom basically shined the spotlight through all the insane plot holes and insanity that the first film possessed, but I chose to be naive and forgive. This film’s script is awful, I mean just terrible. They make so many plot directions in it that you are forced to scream at the TV ‘Why?! Why are you wiping your ass with a classic?’. Obviously, I’m not going to get into spoilers here, but give me five minutes in person and I will rip this story a new one. It is glaring with plot holes, inconsistencies with returning characters, and super annoying new ones.
One thing I’ll give it credit for was that it did look good; much better visuals than Jurassic World. But they’re wasting on a silly plot that focuses way too much on the humans and the stupid things they’re doing and not enough dinosaur action, which was the only thing that Jurassic World had that was hiding how terrible it was for me personally. All in all, this is a well-directed, great movie visually and audibly, but I pretty much despised everything else about it; my bar was very low, and it still disappointed somehow.
