Rajma and Chawal (kidney beans curry with rice) ! This is my 3rd entry into the 12 day instagram autumn photography challenge by Kimberly of the little plantation. The theme for today is called ‘no place like home.’ Although I did not grew up eating Rajma chawal, it is a true comfort food for me. When I learned to cook, it was one of the first few dishes that I mastered. I remember one time when I cooked it, I was in a foreign country and was terribly homesick. Eating it gave a real sense of comfort, peace, and made me feel at home. Every bite of this spicy curry flavored with cumin, cinnamon and black pepper eaten with plain rice bring back tons of memories, nourishes my soul and gives me warmth in this cold, rainy autumn weather. Even to this day (when I am a mom and with my own family in a foreign country) it is a food that takes me back to my happy place.
Some think I am a beast, so be it! Some think I am a madman, so be it! and some think I am an angel, so be it! Actually, it all depends on what you want me to be........ Just a random evening walk on the roads of Delhi!
