Hello, world! You’re going to want to turn the sound up for this #WeeklyFluff: Pidgey the Cockatiel (@pidgeythecockatiel), a little bird with an ear for music — especially a certain theme song. “We taught him ‘The Pink Panther’ by putting a video on for him!” says Pidgey’s human, Simone. “Pidgey always sings when he’s happy — even when it’s 6:30 in the morning.” 😐
When he’s giving his vocal chords a break, Pidgey enjoys a few of his other favorite activities, like sitting on shoulders, flying around the house and snacking on millet and broccoli (his favorites). “Most of all, he loves himself,” says Simone. “He always whistles when he looks in the mirror.” 💛

Photo by @ruddyroye // Captured #withgalaxy S9, produced with @samsungmobileusa // Tyquan and Lywan Reed strolled together past the Louis Armstrong housing projects on Tompkins Avenue in Brooklyn shoulder to shoulder, Black on Black with a sleeping Zuri in one arms. As they crossed the street I wanted to know more about the brothers and this little girl. “It’s tough being a single dad, especially when me and her mother are not together, but we stay in touch for Zuri’s sake. It is not easy but it feels great to be Zuri’s Dad. I absolutely believe it is a blessing, but at times things can be hard. But I stand tall and I stay focused because my family does help. I couldn’t do it without everyone helping out, ” Tyquan said.

Top Shot: Winter Survival | Photograph by Eric Gurwin
.
An arctic fox carries the last remains of a caribou carcass in Churchill, Manitoba, Canada. #YourShotPhotographer Eric Gurwin writes, “A harsh winter means tough times for an arctic fox. Finding the last remains of a caribou carcass may mean the difference between life and death. Ironically, wolves which may be a threat to the fox’s survival may leave just enough of the caribou to sustain the fox until prey becomes more abundant.” This photo was selected for April 25, 2018 Daily Dozen.

Top Shot features the photo with the most votes from the previous day’s Daily Dozen, 12 photos chosen by the Your Shot editors from thousands of recent uploads. Our community votes for their favorite photo from the selection, and the Top Shot is showcased on the @natgeoyourshot Instagram account.

This famous image in Rome can be seen if you look through the keyhole in the front door of the Order of the Knights of Malta on the Aventine Hill.

The keyhole perfectly aligns with a garden arch and St Peter’s Basilica. If you are lucky, there won’t be a tour group there lined up all trying to take a look.

The first time I visited, I had the keyhole to myself so I could take the time to get the image right. It isn’t an easy shot to get give how close your camera has to be to the keyhole, and how little time you usually have to get a shot.
