Last night I went out of my comfort zone, & tried something entirely new to me; bouldering. 🧗♀️ it’s like rock climbing, but without the harness. 🥺 .
I walked into this place (First Ascent), and I was immediately intimidated. 60ft high walls, with various strangers scaling them like freakin’ spider monkeys 🐒🧗♀️ with nothing better to do on a Wednesday night than risk their lives. 😖 But, instead of wussing out and using my fear of heights as an excuse to not even try, I climbed on a damn wall and tried to figure out how the heck I could reach the top. 🥴 .
There are some times in your life where you’ll be face to face with your fears. And you have 2️⃣ big choices; do you stay and confront them, or do you run away from the challenge? .
So many of us are afraid of failing with what we set out to do that we won’t even TRY. 🤦♀️And that’s where I see one of the sneakiest fears hiding in plain sight; the fear of success. 🤯 Take a moment to let that sink in. Now, have you ever been intimidated by the thoughts of what would happen if you succeeded? Did the promise of new, & higher expectations freak you out? Take for instance my climb last night; I was afraid of what I would have to do when I reached the top! Would I have to climb all the way back down, would I jump down...would I fall? Would I be expected to go up a level in difficulty for my next climb? What if it was a one time fluke? 😳 .
Don’t let your fear of success hold you back from new challenges! Keep growing! Keep testing your boundaries. You might have to trust fall into a big pillowed floor, but the landing will be softer knowing that you tested your fears, and your own self limiting beliefs. ✨💪🏼 .
