One day 3 of our 12 cocktails of Christmas we are adding a fun twist to apple cider by adding mulled red wine! This warm beverage will bring toasty comfort on the long, cold days! Hope you enjoy Red Riding Hood!
1 tbsp whole allspice berries| 1 tbsp black peppercorns| 1 tbsp whole cloves| 2 tbsp whole coriander| 3 cinnamon sticks| 3 cups apple cider| 1.5 cups dry red wine| rind and 1/4 cup juice from 1 large orange
Place allspice, peppercorns, cloves, coriander, and cinnamon in a medium saucepan. Cook, stirring over medium heat until fragrant (about 2 minutes). Stir in apple cider, orange rind and juice, and red wine and bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat to lowest setting and simmer for 15 minutes. Strain mixture through sieve into a bowl and discard solids. Serve warm and enjoy! To make more festive, add dried cranberries, and cubed Granny Smith apples!
