Ok so WE know this! That’s why we’ve chosen Keto. However in mainstream #nutrition circles the mantra is still ‘sugar doesn’t make you fat, calories do’. ♀️
We’ve been falsely blaming ‘calories’ for 60 years. The #science tells us that *INSULIN* makes us fat, not calories. Insulin is a storage hormone, it signals to our bodies to store fat and even worse, lipolysis is inhibited in the presence of insulin (meaning we can’t burn fat when insulin levels are high).
When do we produce insulin? Predominantly when we eat carbs! Eating carbs sends continual hormonal signals to store fat. ‘Calories’ alone do not signal fat storage! In fact studies show the more calories you eat, the more you burn, and the reverse is also true, if you restrict calories all that happens is that your body drops its BMR in response, so less calories are burned. So ‘eat less’ is literally the shittiest nutrition advice ever (unless of course you WANT to drop your metabolic rate)
If you truly want to utilise fat for energy you need to lower your insulin by eating less carbs. We need to start calling out the extremely bad ‘science’ that got us into this obesity crisis. Dr Jason Fung is doing just that and if you haven’t read his book ‘The Obesity Code’ it’s a great place to start!
