This was going to a perfect shot where everyone was supposed to hold the rugs properly until it fell out of hand from weaver standing in the middle and I got that on camera. Everyone laughed because it was so funny and most of the weavers were saying to him dude whaaaat it slipped from your hand just when a photo was being taken lol

Anyway I just wanted to remind you today that sometimes the imperfections in life are actually more beautiful than the perfect life we all dream of.

Today was spent unplugged for hours with close friends + festivities at the historic @airbnb @magnoliawvfarm for a hygge ✨ & wreath making workshop with @beaumonthousedesigns 🌿#hyggeatmagnoliapondfarm

We shot this RARE tribal rug as part of our summer collection at the very same @magnoliawvfarm house back in June! — He was found in the Kurdish village of Palangan and was an original tribal rug hand knotted by a woman in the home, year unknown.

Unlike many others, he was not part of production and was instead made with love for personal use never intended for sale.

I’ve never seen another rug with this unique motif or rare color palette. 🖤💙💚 For a LIMITED TIME only, He is available for sale exclusively at @wld_wst Merriest Market in downtown Leesburg open weekends 11am-6pm through December 24. Every rug has a story and this story belongs to Marine Cpl. Carter Ross @marines who is no longer with us but he is in a better place. He is in God’s kingdom. .
On December 6th, on duty on the coast of Japan a fighter jet FA-18 & KC 13 fuel tanker plane collided mid air. Carter was young, hardworking, a loyal patriot & the only first born in the Ross family. .
Sonya @justagirlwhodecorates came up with the idea to weave to add -Carter to our I AM WITH YOU rug as if it was being given by Carter himself to his parents to remind that even though not being physically present he is always with them. .
I also learnt that fellow @marines become part of the family and keep checking how they are doing which is absolutely amazing.
Like God who is not physically seen in person yet we speak to him 24/7 every thing that is on our heart. Sometimes someone does not have to be present, sometimes someone is busy with something & sometimes it’s just not possible for the other person to be present physically but they live in your heart and yet they feel more closer to you no matter the distance.

It was an honor for the whole team and it meant a lot to me for getting Carter’s name woven on this rug. There is a purpose in this rug. A tribute to Carter and his family.

Have a look at second photo. Usually my weavers and my team smile but when they asked why add Carter’s name and I told them the whole story their smiles just disappeared. .
As @proud2bfromboston said it takes a special person to join the army & it takes parents with huge heart knowing what could happen to their sons and daughter they let them volunteer to serve a nation. That to me is absolutely amazing. Salute to the Ross family.

You may see this design everywhere because it is iconic👌🏽, but this is the grandfather of the common heriz rug - this is Serapi. This 100 year old rug is a gem 💎 and clocking in at 10x13 in size. She has natural vegetable dyes, organic hand-spun wool, and contains thousands of knots tied meticulously one at a time 🙏🏽. Notice that the same rusty border color is the same rusty color in the field (usually the field and border are different colors for contrast), notice the slight difference in the size of the medallion from the very left arrow ⬅️ being longer than the right arrow ➡️ being shorter and squeezed in a bit 🤗, and notice the amount of open space particularly around the medallion which acts as a great canvas for the vine and branch-like motifs to artistically sprout and grow throughout 🌱.
