#tbt the 3 years ago today - one of the best of my life. One of my earliest memories is one of my toy cars - a red one, naturally - and looking underneath at the black glossy base and seeing those words. Not just written in plain text like my other cars, but in the logotype. I don’t know what it is about Ferrari that messes with the minds of impressionable young men, but the obsession is still strong. August 16th was special not only for visiting the factory, track and museum, but because just before that first photo was taken I chased a highly camouflaged test mule for about 11 miles at what can only be described as ludicrous speed along some of the local roads - most of which amount to little more than vergeless farm roads. In later months I’d discover it was an F12 TDF, and the whole thing will forever be etched in my brain. I had visions of pulling up at the gates, exchanging a handshake with the driver and bonding over espresso and broken English as he gave me a personal tour of the factory, but the truth is he was so committed that he actually got through the gate before I even pulled up.
