I have 15 plus years of certifications under my belt, as a certified trainer, various levels in coaching certifications, hundreds of online health coaching clients and experience in and out of the gym with clients with one on one. I struggled with my workout today, both mentally and physically. My legs felt heavy, by coordination just didn’t want to jive and over all I just wasn’t in the mood.

I am only human. As busy moms doing it’s all I get it. I really really do. To carry the world on your shoulders each day is both mentally, physically and emotionally exhausting. β€’
Today I showed up to my class, severely un motivated, not having the energy to motivate others, and just wanting to crawl back into bed.

One by one, clients showed up, each giving me a reason to be there. First client even had me convinced she would just come back in the evening... until the next one showed up. β€’
Sometimes you need to literally step out of your comfort zone in order to do something uncomfortable.

Getting that workout in that I really didn’t want to do, turned out to be the best part of my day.

I know it’s been tough for me but I have said time and time again, that working out and running has saved me. My 2 cents on how to stay happy and healthy on a long weekend: *
πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦Drink plenty of Water to stay hydrated each day. Pack a 1 litre bottle in your beach bag and keep it filled up(minimum of 3 litres/day, depending on person, activities and how much you drink). Drinking tons of water will also help with the bloating that comes from drinking and snacking. *
πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦Pack fresh fruits and vegetables on ziplock bags and prep your snacks. Don't focus on being so strict all weekend, rather eat smaller portions, fill up on veggies and keep hydrated. Ideas for campground snacks: rice cakes, homemade granola bars, whole wheat breads etc *
πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦Grab a group of friends or kids or neighbors and go for a walk, run or complete workout below ! Get in 30 mins or activities each day to help that good foods and drinks digest and get the bloating down. *
πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦Be sure to protect that skin with a good spf sunscreen of 45 or higher. I know we all make sure to lather our kids from head to to but don't forget our skin needs this protection too! The copper tone sunscreen spray cans work amazing and go on so easy! *

I have been feeling a bit off lately and considering I took almost a month off after my laparoscopic surgery for endometriosis I actually had no choice but to rest and recover.
As an experienced trainer of over 15 years I still can relate to my clients. It’s tough when you get in that slump.
Real tough.
But from over 25 years of sports and working out I can tell you that the one medicine and healing for me is working out. .

I find it is the one consistent activity that I can always count on and is always waiting for me when I get there. .

Instead of beating yourself up about that workout you never got in, or that week that you had no time, or the month that got away from you.

Wikipedia definition of Bootcamp:
The term "boot camp" is currently used in the fitness industry to describe group fitness classes that promote fat loss, camaraderie, and team effort.
They are designed to push people a little bit further than they would normally push themselves in the gym alone.
Boot Camps are sometimes organized outdoors in parks using bodyweight exercises like push ups, squats, suspension training and burpees, interspersed with running and competitive games. The idea is that everyone involved works at their own pace as they team up and work towards one goal, either in pairs, small teams of three or four, or even two teams head on.

Boot camps provide social support for those taking part. This provides a different environment for those exercisers who get bored in a gym and so find it hard to develop a habit of exercise.

These ladies are amazing. Many of them attend Backcountry Bootcamp classes 2-3 times per week.
We talked the other day about how far some of them have come. When we first started we ran our classes out of the Warren Hall.
I am excited to see that absolutely all of our athletes have improved their fitness level 150%.
These Athletes are stronger.
They are more flexible.
They have increase their cardiovascular capacity 10 fold.
They have better agility.
They have better balance.
They have better coordination. ...But they still hate Burpees πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Many things have changed, but there are things they will never accept .... Go out and inspire others.

In order to see results on the outside you must work on improving your inner strength and wellness.

I had a tough week.

But I also learned from my Oma to live life to the absolute fullest and you should continue to go out and set your soul on fire, each day.

You need to wake up each day and inspire others to do their best and to feel good about themselves.
Every week these woman show up.
I have to tell you that the reasons they come surpass any weight loss program that you can get out there.
Whether their week hasn’t been the best, or their month has just not lined up the way they thought it would, it simply feels good to come out and do something for themselves.

See it’s not about pounds to lose but rather what kind of confidence they are gaining from lifting weights, being part of an amazing team, and learning that they are beautiful in every way.
So don’t ever judge someone based on what your see on Facebook, or at the grocery store and assume they are okay.
I am so humbled to be able to provide a fitness family for women from every walk of life.

I was even able to have a guest that was visiting from Brazil πŸ‡§πŸ‡· who came out and absolutely loved our classπŸ™πŸ», what a treat.

Black bean burger, falafel, fresh green peppers and stir fry of my favourite veggies; edamame beans, green chick peas, spinach, and grilled zucchini’s.
Topped with Dijon mustard and green onions and topped with Italian oil dressing.

Nutrient dense snack for a pre/post workout or something quick to grab!
- 1 Cup oats
- 2 bananas
- 2 scoops @mydynamis white chocolate brownie protein powder
- baking powder

3 - Tbsp Hemp hearts
2 tsp Chia seeds
1/2 cup Cashew milk
1/4 cup Frozen strawberries(summer picking)
Frozen avocado πŸ₯‘
Microwave for 45-60 secs(depends of microwave, and add 1 tsp of honey over and πŸ˜‰ enjoy!

[True fact: I was badly bullied as a teenager]
I know your struggles... "I was bullied my entire Junior high years. When I decided to compete and train for photoshoots, I had many people try to give me reasons that I shouldn't succeed.
Some never understood why I would go too such great lengths to 'better me', and set personal goals.
When I was growing up, school seemed impossible and I developed some major insecurities about myself. Being told that I wasn't good enough, never feeling accepted because girls were just mean in school, but most of all they just went out of their ways to be mean. When I became a Mom, adult bullying became a reality too.
I even had close friends tell me that I should be focussed on my kids not on working out. And actually? Working out really saved my sanity and made me a Better mom.
I took that criticism and used it as fuel in my later journey and sometimes struggled but the one thing that I learnt to do is persevere. I am not saying that I am completely over it because it still hurts, but what doesn't kill you will definitely make you stronger!" Don't let ANYONE tell you that you can't do it, no matter what 'it' is.
If you have a journey, you write that down and don't let anyone take that passion from you.
And when you reach your goal?
You will feel out of this world for believing in yourself 😘 "There are people in your life that do not want to see you succeed. You will go to a family gathering or be talking with some friends and they will ask…
"why are you not eating the whole thing” or β€œhaven’t you tried to lose weight before?”
"Are you starving yourself"…

Amazing Lunch todayπŸ™‹πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ Black bean burger and spinach and chickpea patties with assorted veggie stir fry.
I added in avocado and hot honey mustard on top and the tastes were amazing πŸ‘‹

Eating vegan, has been a eye opener for myself and my body seriously thanks me daily for it.

I have never spent so little time meal prepping and cooking meals.
I don’t prepare my meals to far in advance on the weekends because I am enjoying how fresh it tastes to cook up a pan full of assorted 🌢️ veggies.

There’s this thing that I like to call balance.

I have lived by the 90/10 rule for the last 65 days and counting.
A new journey of cutting out meat and most dairies out of my diet.
This has been a personal choice for me as I have dealt with IBS, had pancreatitis at 21, and suffered from gall bladder for 5 years straight in my 20’s.
So needless to say I felt it was time for a change in my life.
In 65 days I found a whole new me, and transformed my body and have never felt better.
I eat 90% of the time a plant based diet(still including eggs and goat cheese and my @mydynamis Protein shake because it’s lactose free and does no bother my stomach☺️) and every once in a while I like to treat myself because who can resist a twix barπŸ˜†β˜ΊοΈ
And yes I understand there is dairy in milk chocolate but it’s worth the risk every once in a while ☺️ What ever your goals, your lifestyle, or your plan, do what’s right for you and what makes you feel healthier.
It’s all about balance and enjoyment of the simply and sweet things in your life.

Did you know?

Your body cannot spot reduce fat in specific locations. If you have β€˜flabby’ arms or a β€˜big stomach’, doing thousands of bicep curls and thousands of crunches won’t help.

Your body is genetically predisposed to storing fat in certain locations in a certain order. When you start to lose weight, your body will lose the fat you currently have in a certain order as well – it might come off your arms first, then your legs, then your belly, then your chest, and THEN your butt. Or in a different order, depending on your personal genetic makeup.

No amount of targeted exercise will change how that fat disappears.

Want to make it disappear faster?
Simply Eat Better. Your diet will be responsible for 80-90% of that fat loss.
Strength train, not with targeted exercises, but with big compound movements that recruit lots of muscle (and thus force your body to rebuild lots of muscle, which requires extra calories burned, even after the workout is done). You feel better when you're active, right? πŸ’ͺ🏻You don't have to spend hours at the gym to get the benefits of exercise. πŸ€ΈπŸ»β€β™‚οΈIf you've taken a break from exercise, start with something simple like a 20-minute walk. ☺️Look at ways you can add more activity into your day - a short walk during your lunch break, another walk after work perhaps. πŸ‘If finding 20-30 minutes at a time is challenging, see how you can break it up into smaller chunks of time. 10 minutes, here and 10 minutes there - it adds up!

The key is to start with something. It doesn't have to be all or nothing. πŸ‘ŒπŸ»What gets measured gets done.

5 tips towards being a better mom:

Busy moms require balance.

Many of you have been asking me lately, β€œHow do you keep up ?” My answer is simple:

Proper nutrition, provides proper consistency.

Trust me. I get it as a mom of 5, hobby πŸ‘©β€πŸŒΎ farmer, and online coach and business owner.
From commuting to to and from 11 classes per week, juggling home life, basketball and drivers ed schedules, to toddler tantrums and illnesses, I get it.
So you ask, how does one do this with out going crazy?

I meal prep, I plan and I live off of routine. If I don’t have routine?
Every one else’s routine is off.
If I don’t feel like I have it together?

Trust me, I get stressed.

But going into my 3rd year of business owner/mom and jack of all trades my secret is this.

1.)Take time for you, even if it’s just 20 minutes. Yoga, stretching, prayer, what ever takes you away for 20 mins for you.
2.) Management of your time. This is essential!
Grab a day planner and map it out!
#3.)Learn How to say No! I can’t stress this enough. Busy mama don’t feel like you have to do it all. Take time for you and don’t feel obligated to get to every single task. It’s okay, the dishes Can wait, laundry is not going to walk away, And most important spend time with your kids will not be young forever.

4.) Eat a proper balanced diet !
You need to have energy to be fuelled for your busy days. Aim for breakfast/Lunch and Dinner with lots of water and 2 small snacks in between 🍎

5.)Start a journal and reflect.
Each day write down 3 things that you are thankful for.
It’s not simple but it’s definitely doable.

Take the time to reflect each day and slow down.
The weekends should be a time to reflect, rest and relax.

I get it.
I have 5 kids, my husband Joe is a busy supervisor for a plumbing company and works long hours, my twin teenager boys are in drivers ed every Tuesday and Thursday night, and my daughter is in basketball 3-4 times per week. And my 6 and 3 year keep me running on my toes 24/7.
We also have a hobby farm that requires care and time to take care of the animals, and I run a full time online business training and coaching clients to live a healthier lifestyle, plus running 11 bootcamp classes to get others in shape.
I get it, life is busy and chaotic.
I have found that one that I order to be a healthier mom, I need to take time for me.
