Flak catching parenting choices continued!
6) We're not doing Santa, the tooth fairy, the Easter Bunny or any other made up character that equates caring with material things or has us lie to our little one. We want to buy the things we need for him throughout the year when he needs him. We want to teach him love has nothing to do with money and possessions. We want him to trust us to tell him truths about life. 7) We aren't giving our baby todays popular toys. What's been found to provide kids with the best opportunity for learning is letting them explore what is already there. Though baby toys are bright, talk (research shows the more toys talk and sing the less your baby will and the less you talk to your baby), and light up, the research shows that kids who learn what normal household objects are learn more, and learn more quickly. They want to explore the world they are in and not necessarily the world toy manufacturers have created for them. Hence their interest in everything you do and use. 8) We co-sleep and we do it safely. When you're a mom your senses are heightened after having a baby. If he's making a noise or giving a wiggle I'm awake and checking on him. Because we're so close together at night he never has to cry to get what he needs. He's changed in bed while half asleep, fed, and then falls right back to sleep again. I don't have to get out of bed, baby doesn't become distressed, dad doesn't get woken up. 👶 We're almost done with the top 10! The last two flak catching parenting choices will be posted later today because we've run out of room here!
