These are the elements I focus on when I structure my dinner: 1) flavor 2) adequate protein 3) nutrients from natural sources 4) low to moderate carbs 5) low to moderate calories. Macro tracking tip: PLAN ahead. As with anything, it is easiest to stay on track when you plan ahead. You don't have to do every last detail.. but it helps. Here is what I typically do to "prep" for the next day or week:

β€’put desserts #1st - I love flexible dieting, #iifym for helping me stay consistent and sane by still having treats.. but if you don't plug them in first it's harder to find room for them as the day goes on.
.
β€’ meals go in next. Proteins & fats. (I also put in my greens for each meal.. I don't track them necessarily, but this way I know I'll eat them.)
.
β€’next fill in carbs for meals.
.
β€’finally fill in empty spots with snacks that make up any macro's you have left to fill!!
.
Just as training #smart is important, eating smart is important. Setting realistic goals is key not only for your sanity, but for your health as well. Planning ahead for nutrition is as important, if not more, as planning your workouts!!

Losing weight requires moderate diet, moderate exercise, descipline and a lot of patience. There is no fast track to lose all that weight you have accumulated all your life from bad/unhealthy choices in just a few minutes/days.

You should really be aiming to lose 1 kilo/pound a week. Any more than that and you may be setting yourself for failure as you will either starve yourself, develop mood swings, feel tired all day, start binge eating and develop bad eating habits.

Take it easy on yourself and know that this journey to a healthy/better you takes time and that it's a lifestyle to continue all your life. It will make you a new improved you that you will fall in love with.

I certainly enjoyed the rich Foods of France but sometimes a Cali girl just wants a salad. So I stopped into a @marksandspencer food shop in @stpancrasinternational on my way home from Paris. This meal was delicious!! I love a good pumpkin dish, but I have been very leary of the pumpkin pasta sauces. It just doesn't sound appealing. A friend showed me this recipe and it actually sounded like it could be good ... or really gross. Well, it was a huge success! It doesn't have very much pumpkin flavor at all, it just makes the dish really creamy. Usually leftover mac and cheese is dried out and not too great. This is even great with leftovers! Highly recommended! I will probably add extra veggies next time, aside from that, it's perfect!
