"Another solid post + description from my friend, Jay (@aworkoutroutine)
Here's what he had to say...
– " Wanna know the BEST way to lose fat?
By creating a caloric deficit.
And not only is this the "best" way... it's also literally the ONLY way.
But you'd never know that when looking at these kinds of lists. In fact, the vast majority that I've seen don't even mention the word "calories" a single time (let alone the need to consume less of them so a deficit exists).
Instead, these kinds of lists tend to only contain things that fit the following descriptions...
Good ideas for your overall health and well being (e.g. get enough sleep, eat more vegetables, minimize stress, etc.).
Myth-based horseshit (e.g. eat every 2 hours to speed up your metabolism, don't eat carbs after 6PM, etc.).
Unnecessary/optional restrictions that have the *potential* to *indirectly* cause your deficit to exist (eat clean, eat less carbs, eat less sugar, follow a Paleo diet, fast intermittently, etc.).
And while some of this stuff is indeed a good idea because it can serve some beneficial purpose in your ability to create your deficit and consistently sustain it, it's important to remember that - in and of themselves - NOTHING on these lists actually *causes* fat loss. Not even a little.
That's always going to come down to calories in vs calories out and ensuring that a deficit exists over time. It's the one and only true "way" to lose fat. There is nothing else.
Having said that, there are MANY different ways to create that deficit. A list of the "10 Best Ways To Help Create Your Deficit And Make It Easier For You To Sustain" would be a much better idea.
Because in the end, ensuring that a deficit is present AND making it happen in whatever way is most sustainable for you is going to be the key to your fat loss success."
