If you love music and you haven’t written to Hackney Council to object to the planning application then please do so now.

So glad that there is some small but temporary victory....
The planning meeting has been postponed due to ‘unprecedented representations’... I wrote my letter to Hackney planning department a few days ago.. if it resonates with any friends on here, particularly those who have first hand experience of the place... please take the time to send something similar... more info @strongroomstudios
Dear Sirs and Madams,
I wish to object to the planning application 2018/0363 which threatens the future of neighbouring Strongroom Studios.
Strongroom is a lot more than ‘just’ being one of the country’s leading recording studios...But that fact in itself - the importance of this incredible HACKNEY studio within the GLOBAL music industry for 35 ish years - SHOULD be enough in for you to look to ensure it’s protection against the vibrations and noise that could render the studios unusable - potentially for long enough to close it down.
I am one of hundreds of people whose career has benefited enormously through employment with or for Strongroom studios. For me this was nearly 20 years ago, when the Shoreditch area was still something of a barren wasteland.
Shoreditch would NOT have gentrified in the way it has without Strongroom. It’s that simple.
The reputation that Shoreditch now enjoys as a cutting edge, fashionable, artistic, creative, fun and inspirational area can be traced back to those who chose to take on these then cheap buildings and make something magical out of them. Strongroom is the highest example of this. To disregard the importance of Strongroom recording studios and its important role in the community (historically and for decades to come) is absolutely ridiculous.
Lack of ‘Office blocks’ is precisely why the Shoreditch community has grown and thrived in the way it has done. Killing off the most inspirational of forerunners is sure to have an enormously negative impact on Curtain Road, and Shoreditch as a whole.
