Some patterns flow naturally and magically appear on fabric...and some don't. My fall wreath pattern has been a big challenge for me, with lots of false starts and stops, but I think I am finally happy with the direction I am going. But I want you guys to know that this embroidery has been in that ugly uncomfortable phase that all thread paintings pass through for many uncomfortable weeks! There have been many days where I want to chuck the pattern or cut out hours of work. I got discouraged. I gave myself permission to put it aside. It's a process and it's not always pretty! So don't give up on that project you are working on, okay? Be gentle with yourself and take a break for a fresh perspective. And know that all projects go through growing pains and can be more awkward than junior highschool. But that too shall pass.
How do you get over that creative funk hump?
