Since you guys seemed to like hearing about our stay in the Sackville Tiny House, I thought I would share another personal experience ✨
A few days into our trip out East we stayed overnight in a little 1970’s trailer which was parked on a hobby farm run by a young couple on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia 🇨🇦
This was another example of an affordable and pet friendly Air Bnb ($40/night)
The little trailer was marvellously groovy - complete with a beautiful olive coloured gas stove. Despite the antique status of the trailer, everything inside was in working order.
Just beyond the trailer the owners have a large garden where they grow veggies which are then sold on a small cart at the end of their driveway to passing motorists. The cart is run on the honour system. No one stands there accepting money throughout the day- just a small box to drop your $ into.
When I asked the couple if people ever stole from them, they simply laughed and said no, of course not. They always had the right amount of money at the end of the day for the amount of veggies that they started with. I thought that was a particularly wonderful thing.
In their garden there were two large barrels which collected rain water which they used to water the crops.
When it got dark Dan and I started a campfire and after a few drinks, some music and jazz cabbage we were feeling pretty relaxed.
All of the sudden something BIG walked by us very close and knocked over one of the rain barrels. To this day we have no idea what it was. Most likely a bear or a moose.
If I had been thinking clearly I would have been terrified, but I wasn’t scared. I slept like a rock that night and in the morning we bought a few zucchini’s from the produce cart at the end of their driveway and said goodbye to this beautiful little place ♥️
