May she know that God gives the BEST gifts.
.
“Every good and perfect gift comes from above.” James 1:17
.
A girl in my daughters class was handing out BFF necklaces to other girls in her grade level at lunch. Offering them to some and passing on others.
.
“Did she give you one?” I asked.
.
“No.”
.
“How did that make you feel?” “Did you feel sad” I prodded some more, trying to get a look at her face when she responded.
.
“Well, not so much - I mean maybe a little because the necklace was cute and said BFF, but I’m ok.”
.
I teared up in gratitude as watched her walk with her head held high... confident... a girl who knew her worth despite the event that went down.
.
I could see that she understood the very concept we have been talking about since she was little and I felt so darn proud.
.
God gives the BEST gifts.
.
And He knows when to give them and just what we need.
.
And when we know this, it frees up our heart from the hurt of not getting every invitation, every invite, and every BFF necklace that’s getting passed around.
.
And when we can fully grasp that idea, it frees up our hands to be fully outstretched to Him, the giver of the best gifts and the gifts that are worth waiting for.
.
Jesus I pray my girls would continue to look to YOU for their blessings, for their worth, for their identity and for your generous gifts that you give so freely 💛💛💛

[#ad] I can't believe that back to school is just around the corner! This guy is starting a new school this year and we are both a mix of excited and nervous for what this school year will bring. He is ready for all of his 3rd grade school work with his new @zennioptical UV+ Blue Blockers glasses! Even though he doesn't need a prescription, these glasses are be worn to protect his eyes from blue and UV lights that can have damaging effects on his eyes over time. Aside from the eye protection, they make him look super cute! #schoolbboxx

Context for the famous Jeremiah 29:11 verse:
God's people chose being exiled over staying for famine and other destruction awaiting their homelands.
SENT INTO EXILE.
God tells them, "Build houses and settle down; plant gardens and eat what they produce. Marry and have sons and daughters; find wives for your sons and give your daughters in marriage, so that they too may have sons and daughters. Increase in numbers there; do not decrease. Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper." 29:5-7
Basically: make the most of this time and build a life. Settle in.
Then comes the Promise starting in verse 10, "when seventy years are completed for Babylon, I WILL come to you and fulfill my good promise to bring you back to this place."
And then we get to it, "For I KNOW the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to PROSPER you and not to harm you, plans to give you HOPE and a FUTURE."
The entire point of the exile was that they would be able to return someday. That there would be LIFE!
Would you normally think of exile as a good thing? Something that God actually uses for His purposes?!
But He did ❤️
So take heart, that hard situation you are facing. Yeah it may feel and even be dressed in the attire of an exile situation. Maybe you're devastated... but here is the thing, God is going to USE THIS.
Yes, even THIS. Even the exile. Why? Because He is God.
Because His plans are best even when they seem to involve exiles to us.
They are actually where LIFE is found.
Even exiles can be made good by His divine plan.
Hope and a future, remember? "Then you will call on Me and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, declares the Lord. And will bring you back from captivity. I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have banished you, declares the Lord. And will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile." 29:12-14
Coming home...
Don't believe me? Tomorrow we are going to see the restoration!

Getting settled into my new physical home while talking to the person I call home.

3

Tonight I watched him as he played with his toy trucks in the living room. All by himself. Llewyn never naps anymore and rarely falls asleep BEFORE Auggie.
So I observed as my little man was figuring out what it was like to explore alone — without big brother right by his side. I noticed he wasn’t sure where to begin. He was almost even a little shy as Steve and I observed and tried to play along with him. He stated a few times in his soft, raspy voice: “Llewyn, sleeping” almost as if he wished he could go wake him up. And in that moment my heart about crumbled into a million pieces.
Because in less than a month our first born starts preschool and I don’t know about you guys, but time isn’t slowing down over here.
And then I thought even deeper (shocker 😜) and my whole heart started to ache as I sat thinking about how someday our Llew man will graduate high school and move out of our home...leaving Auggie to figure things out without his older brother right there having already gone before him.
So in those thoughts and that momma heartache, my prayer is that he would be incredibly strong in who God has created Him to be. And that he would fully know that even when his brother isn’t physically by his side, that he will always be his side kick. Because life is just better when you can call your brother your best friend. #brothersandbesties

He didn't say fix it then you can come. He said, "Come to me." Why do we complicate that?

Amor fati—love your fate.
___________________________________________________

Sometimes when I reflect on my journey and the things that brought me here today, I feel a sense of shame and embarrassment about the place from which I came. It feels dark, dirty, gross and humiliating to accept where and what I came from. The thought of making my hidden truths public is terrifying. How hard I have fought to separate myself from it all...to deny it from my core; to be viewed as “normal” and “nice”...to not become a burden to others because my story feels too heavy...I want to bury it deep, but there’s no way to change or forget the past.
As soon as I realized that I didn’t have to be the victim of my past—that I’m capable of writing my own story and that I can choose to embrace all that ugly and turn it into something useful, maybe even something beautiful—that this realization would change everything. Growth and knowledge and strength and wisdom require more from us than just sitting by allowing other people to put their stories about us on our shoulders. We were made for more than that. I’ll be expounding with more on this in the coming weeks, but for tonight I’ll end by saying...This is the year I take off the false narratives that were not meant for me and that I didn’t author, and cling to the my deepest truth: I am worthy of love and acceptance and grace and happiness and joy and peace (and if you’re reading this, you are too.) 💕

This morning I came across this quip that I wrote last month:

✨It is the seed layed on the ground that spreads. They are sewn by your words and by your actions.✨

👉Sometimes 'the multi-task oriented side' of being productive, causes the simplicity of the message to get lost. (Has anyone else felt this??!)✨

If you have an authentic message in your heart, it's not meant to be stressful to share. It's truly spread by your words and actions!💗🙏🏻

May we be reminded of this truth! And may we implement it!

I always enjoy knowing your thoughts...👇(and as others are reading them = you are sewing your message.....)🙌✨🙏🏻

I hope I’m creating an encouraging little corner of your Instagram feed. I hope when you stop by my account or you scroll past something I post, you leave a little more uplifted than when you came.
✨
I’m just a regular mom. With real life struggles and I definitely don’t have it all together. I don’t post my Bible pictures to brag on myself or anything like that. I have just really been feeling the urge to share my regular people battles and how God is helping me through them.

I have some things on my heart that will be unfolding over the next few months and I hope you see the heart behind it.
❤️
You’re going to see a lot of Bible posts, encouraging quotes, real life struggles, and God talk. But your also going to see my gorgeous kiddos, my puppy, my home, my #momlife tips, and any other moment I want to capture. It’s a mix of ministry and motherhood and that pretty much sums up my life. Occasionally I may mention some oils but for the most part, follow @oilofjoylife for all my oily tips and tricks.

In a society where women can be so critical of each other, I hope you find genuine encouragement and connection here! I can’t wait to share everything that’s in the works with you!

Let's talk about something that's been weighing on my heart lately: doubt. ⠀

I am constantly doubting myself. Have I chosen the right masters program? Why did I think starting a ministry at church was a good idea, and are people actually going to support it? Will my client be happy with this new project I'm working on for them? ⠀

Here's the thing about doubt--it's so ingrained in the Christian culture. All we do is talk about free-will while simultaneously stressing about whether we're making the right choices according to God's perfect plan. ⠀

Recently, I read a quote in a #robinjonesgunn book that shook my world. "Love God and do what you want."⠀

Notice, the "Love God" part comes first. Love God, and do what you want because loving Him continually points me and my choices back to Him. Maybe... God doesn't have this perfect little map for my life. Maybe He actually, really does give me free will, let's me choose my life. But if I love Him, if I seek Him every day, He gives me the wisdom, love, hope, compassion and peace I need to live for Him. ⠀
So then, my biggest responsibility isn't to stress about His perfect plan for me, but to love Him so that everything I do points back to him.⠀

I am literally shook by that. Love God and do what you want. ⠀

Hebrews 11:1 Faith is defined not by what is seen, but by your confidence that what is unseen will be.
The hardest part of faith is waiting but we must remember whatever we need God supplies. You can change your mindset by spending time in Gods word meditating on the truth it contains rather than your current circumstances

• some people are down with the 9-5 lifestyle and i just ain’t one of ‘em. 👩🏼💼🙅🏼‍♀️ i feel conflicting things about this. on the one hand, i get defensive (and even self-doubtful) because my old paradigm goes, “well, duh. no one wants~ to work. don’t be a lazy fuck.” and on the other hand, is it too much to ask for a life i don’t have to clock in + out of? this cubicle work culture is so unnatural it verges on the absurd. on the other hand ... NO! (said in my best Tevye voice) THERE IS NO OTHER HAND. it’s not laziness. it’s not a lack of character, or willpower, or work ethic. because i will *never* stop working to escape the 9-5. never. i might adjust my sails, i might change course, but i will never resign myself to a work culture that i know will never be able to offer me the lifestyle i crave. i got big dreams, i got a vision for my life, and it doesn’t involve spending 8 hours a day in a corporate environment. i chose this lifetime to be a writer, a lover of language, to be a philosopher + an explorer. that is what i have known, in my soul, since i was five years old. there it is. i will NEVER give it up. who else? raise ya hand! 🙋🏼‍♀️ proclaim what you are here for + what you will never give up. let’s rally!

Munchkin is in another "test boundaries" phase. Is it just him or does every end of an age/start of the next go like this?? I remember when he started changing closing in on his third birthday (and then again for his fourth!) and thinking, "uh oh we're in for it this year!" But now that we're nearing the big 5, I'm ready to hit the brakes. So not ready for this last birthday!! Also doesn't help that he's been counting down to it for 4 months already 😂

— last week, my dad and I spoke about a recent kidnapping involving a ransom. I had said that it must be terrible having to put a price on your child and their freedom. I couldn’t imagine what it would be like, having not only lost your child, but to have your child in the hands of crooked people with greedy intentions. “What if you couldn’t come up with the money,” I proposed. My dad replied saying that people gave money to a GoFundMe page to help the family.
During my morning drive, I thought about this awful scenario once again. I realized that we have all been part of a similar situation.
Because of our own mistakes, we were deceived and kidnapped from our Heavenly Father. God longed to get us back from our captor. He had to put a price on our lives and our freedom. He had to do whatever He could to save us from the crooked king of this world and the one below. His son, Jesus Christ chose to pitch in and pay the ransom. He chose to sacrifice His life so that His Father could get back the children He lost. The devil thought he could drag us away and take all of the riches of God’s Kingdom. But the devil did not plan for the resurrection. He didn’t see it coming. Christ not only paid our ransom note, but He also saved us in His resurrection. We ALL made it back home. Nothing and no one was lost in the transaction.

If you’re wondering where you stand with God, just know that He chose you. He chose you when you ran away. He chose you when you made a mistake. He chose you when you wanted to do the exact opposite of what He told you to do. He chose you. Heaven paid the ultimate price, but not dime was lost. We are the riches of His Kingdom. He calls us worth it. He calls you priceless.

REJOICE IN HOPE! This month's memory verse is "Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer." - Romans 12:12⠀

This verse is sandwiched in between other verses in Romans 12 that show us the way true Christians live – Sort of like a greatest hits. It's a mark of a Christian to rejoice in the hope of Jesus because it's the basis of what we believe and where our true joy is found, regardless of our circumstances. The rest of the verse revolves around this hope, allowing us to be patient in tribulation and constant in prayer.⠀

I encourage you to praise God for the hope you have in Jesus, thanking Him for sustaining that hope. And if it seems like your joy is waning, don't be afraid to cry out to Him and ask Him to restore the joy of your salvation. He is faithful!⠀

kindness to yourself first, then others through the overflow.
some ideas for self-kindness today:
• positive self-talk—combat your inner critic with love!
• self-care—take that shower, go on a walk, eat when hungry!
• journal and pray—i find that reflecting on my day through writing and prayer really help me keep an attitude of kindness. • go out there and love others! have compassion towards EVERYONE. you never know what they are battling.
you are so loved, friend!

Things happen 🤷🏼‍♀️ we fall short, we let people down, we don’t always anticipate what comes next, the unexpected isn’t always fair BUT we can choose to climb out, stand up, + own our space regardless!
//
I’ve been SUPER tempted to throw in the towel completely + just sleep 💤 for the next couple weeks- but my life NEEDS me to show up for it so I can’t throw it in just yet😂
//
Learning to rest in “being” instead of the overwhelming feeling of “doing” is teaching me how to REST without guilt, not worry about getting everything on my laundry list of things to do done in ONE day + finding the humor in the CRAY😜
//
Let’s dial the pressure down that we put on ourselves, give ourselves more room to relax, +
come into inner alignment with the present 💝 it’s not always cute, or easy, but it’s WAYYY better than giving up!

To the girl who is waiting on the ring: ⠀⠀
Be patient. Ecclesiastes tells us there is a season for all things. I know that it may seem like you’ve been waiting forever, that the ring will never come.
⠀⠀
And while those feelings are so real, they aren’t true. This season of dating is beautiful and precious. There is a carefree spirit to it yet a weight that is so important. ⠀⠀
Use this time and embrace it. Ask yourself why you want to be engaged so bad? Is it to honor God and to love your spouse? Or is there a pressure from outside voices? ⠀⠀
Dating is a sweet time that you’ll never get back. And if used wisely, your dating relationship can be the foundation of your marriage that honors God. ⠀⠀
Be patient. The ring will come. But once it does, this season will end and you’ll be on to a new one. ⠀⠀

“Somewhere out there, I grasp at the strands of the woman I long to be. The grace-girl with tired feet, a free spirit, and a full heart. The one who sits in His presence so she can sit in the present. The one who doesn’t run from the hard broken of this beat up world. The one who stands beside the bleeding and bleeds too... There’s something wild about her, this girl. Her hair is steaming in the wind and her face is gleaming and she is alive...”
*
Life is hard and unreasonable. We get to live in this in between space. A space where we are loved as we are, and at the same time, invited into a deeper and better everything. Over on the blog I’m contemplating what that looks like for me. Mulling over the type of person I want to continue to become. *
Who do you long to be, friend?

There are three core desires of a woman’s heart. Look at the movies we love, the books we read; watch little girls at play. You will learn something very important about the feminine soul. These are the desires that shape our hopes and dreams; they are essential in order to live life as a woman.
_

To Be Romanced:
God loves romance. He created it. Sunsets, flowers, music, a kiss—all his ideas. He says, “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 29:13)! God wants to be pursued. And so do we. Now—we are not saying that being romanced is all that a woman wants; nor are we saying that a woman ought to find the meaning of her life in whether she is being or has been pursued. Nevertheless—every woman longs to be loved, to be chosen, to have someone fight for her. At some core place deep within, every woman wants to be seen, delighted in, and pursued. We long to be romanced.
_

An Irreplaceable Role:
We also want to be essential, needed, irreplaceable. A woman doesn’t come alive being merely “useful.” There is something fierce in the heart of a woman. Simply insult her children, her man, or her best friend, and you’ll get a taste of it. A woman is a warrior too—but in a uniquely feminine way. When God creates Eve he calls her ezer —literally, a “life saver,” someone you need desperately when all hope is lost. We are relational to the core of our being and filled with a desire for transcendent purpose. We long to play an irreplaceable part in a shared adventure. God made us this way. The world needs us.
_

Beauty All Our Own to Unveil:
Finally, there is Beauty. Every young girl wants to know she is lovely. Some will ask with words; others simply ask with their eyes. We want to be noticed. And it’s not just the desire for an outward beauty; far more it is a desire to be captivating in the depths of who we are. For this, too, is how we bear the image of God, who is beautiful and wants to bring beauty to the world. You bear the image of God and possess your own unique beauty to bring into the world. #chosentoreign 📷: @laurentaylorltw

Meal prep legit makes my life easier. But I’m not a “3 hours in the kitchen on a Sunday afternoon” kind of gal. I’m more of a “cut a little extra now to save some time later” kind of gal!
.
My best tip: cut up all the week’s veggies and portioning them out for everyone on Monday night.
.
Monday morning can figure itself out, but the rest of the week is a breeze if I cut up all the week’s veggies while I’m making dinner. To make it even easier I plan to have a dinner with lots of veggies in it on Monday! I’ve already got the veggies out & I’m already cutting them up...might as well cut up a few more!
.
All my egg veggies (peppers & onions) go into one tupperware.
All the lunch veggies go into separate small tupperwares or baggies so I can grab them and throw ‘em in lunch boxes.
Snack veggies go into a larger tupperware so it’s easy to grab them on demand.

Every morning I wake up and I still haven’t had this baby.. and I’m anxious. So, instead of fretting in the waiting.. which I think we love to do as humans. I’ve been trying to meditate on the perfect love and plan that covers me and this little babe.

Perfect love casts out dread
Perfect love casts out fear (1 John 4:18)
Perfect love casts out doubt
Perfect love casts out anxiety
Perfect love casts out.
For it is in your perfect love that I sit.
Not knowing the timing but knowing it’s best.
Not knowing how it’s going to go but knowing it’s love that directs my steps.

Having the peace of Christ because:
Nothing can separate us from his love (Romans 8)
AND ...and we know for those who love God ALL things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose (Romans 8)

Let me tell you a secret. We all have an endless spring of joy deep inside just waiting to be released. True joy is not dependant on outside circumstances because that is not it's source. By choosing to release joy into my spirit I cannot help but share it with my world. Not only that, joy becomes the filter through which I view life. Want to see more light, love and good in the world? Choose joy💓!

Ahhh.... the results of the righteousness that the Lord bestows to all His children! ♥️ It is a righteousness that isn’t birthed from what we’ve done, but is exclusively from what Jesus provided on the cross ♥️ And the results? Peace! A spirit surrounded by quietness and resting in trust! ♥️

God brings about sweetness through the storms of life. He promises to use our trials for good. Not always the ‘good’ we would choose — but the good that’s best — the good that brings us to our knees. In today’s blog post, Megan shares with us how God used the raging storm of postpartum depression to bring her to her knees and right into the beauty of what God has for her in this season.

➵ Sometimes the Lord takes you on a journey where you can see the “destination” just up ahead, but then He makes you take an unexpected U- turn. Your like, “but Lord, I was almost there?! It was a clear shot ahead! There were no delays and no traffic!! What am I doing here?!” Yeah, He doesn’t always do things that “make sense.” I am in this situation right now. I was getting closer and closer to one of my promises and the Lord started moving me in the opposite direction. The devil was working overtime to try and get me discouraged and filled with doubt, but I kept hearing God whisper, “do you STILL trust me?” I keep moving further.... “do you STILL trust me?”

You see friend, the Lord is intentional and doesn’t do things for “show.” He wants a personal relationship with each one of us. He wants us to trust Him even in the fog and even in the unknown for what is a blur to us is crystal clear to Him! His perception is so much different than our own. Growth is more important than our comfort. Building trust is more important than speed. Resilient faith is more important than ease.

God is in the here and now and He is already at our next stop. We don’t have to have it mapped out because God has the master plan and He will most certainly get us to our next destination. Our job is not to know how or to have it all figured out. Our assignment is to trust and obey Him. That unexpected U-turn might turn out to be one of the most rewarding moves of your life. All because you chose to trust and obey Him. ➵ 💕 #soulchaser

So true.

It has been an interesting summer with a cast on my right arm, fingers to above the elbow, following surgery. I had my right wrist bone removed, tendons transferred from the palm of my hand to the top. Year 25 of rheumatoid arthritis means these annual surgeries are part of life, but I’m ready to feel like my old self again!
.
This is when I am SO thankful Joel and I run this business TOGETHER. And times like this force me to give up some of the control... and then it is fun to see people around me thrive.
.
We visited my family this month in Oregon and I went to the wedding of my little flower girl. It was one of those good hair days so I snapped a photo in the car—feeling a bit silly, but hey, it was time to show my face to you all again AND I had on makeup. It took a while to learn to do eye liner again with my differently-abled hand!
.
Thanks for letting us live vicariously through your vacations, beach trips, and more this summer. It is my hope when you hear us talk about how “life takes guts” or “Gutsy goodness “ you know we walk the walk. Even when the air conditioner breaks down like this week — #choosingjoy .

‘Don’t get me wrong, saying yes is necessary in life to push us forward and take us places we’re destined to go.
🌸
But more often than not, we hear we’re always supposed to say yes. Which leads us down the rabbit trail of saying yes to PEOPLE rather than GOD, when God never asked us to do it all...
🌸
Guys, rest can cure all our trust issues. It gives you confidence to inherit the promise, by making you so God-conscious that you see His provision in every problem.
🌸
It says you’re enough no matter what season you’re in, and that saying yes to everything doesn’t make you a better Christian, or a better person.
🌸
Because just because an opportunity seems GOOD, doesn’t mean it’s from GOD.’

New blog post is up, and I give my top three ways to make rest a RHYTHM, not a rescue! If you struggle with slowing down, disappointing others or the fear of missing out, this ones for you! ❤️ check the link in my bio 🤗

"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." Psalm 119:105
☕️

God, thank you for these friends. It is crazy to think and realize that we are being looked at by the generation coming. They see us and are looking at us to see to listen to how we are moving in life and what we have to say. They are. I promise, they are. Help us to not stay silent on our journey to hide what has happened and what You have taught us. Help us remember that our stories and lesson are paving a way for other to know You. Just as you light our way our light points them to You. Thank you for every lesson learned and every broken hard place, because Your strength and power is known  to the world and experienced through our stories. We love you. 🌻

➵ the fourteenth of august... 🌷
so many years of my life have been spent throwing myself into showing others their worth, encouraging + uplifting those that happen to come across my path. you might know this if you’ve been following me for a while. i thought i was doing the right thing, loving on others + helping them to see the absolute wonder that was within them all along. we are called to come alongside each other in community, right? what i didn’t realize until much later was that i so willingly threw myself into these loving manias to mask the fact that i could never embrace my own worthiness. in fact, i didn’t feel like i was deserving of doing so. “as long as i continually love on others, i’ll be fine”, i told myself. it must be my inner enneagram 2. 😉 one day, after the countless outpourings of my heart into the souls of others, after feeling worn + burned out, after grasping the fact that some people will not love me back with the same fervor i give to them, i had a little mantra weave its way into the dark corridors of my mind + it has stayed close to my benevolent heart ever since. “kate, you are worthy of the love you so desperately try to leave in this world.” WOAH. when i speak this phrase aloud, it continues to have the same impact as it did when it was first presented. and my goodness, has it changed my mindset. what makes me different from the people i pour into? is it because i feel that the darkness of my past causes me to be too far gone to see the light? or is it because i continue to be my biggest barrier? nothing makes me different, nothing at all.. and i’m starting to see that + come back into the light, my friends. i am beginning to accept the fact that the acknowledgement of my worth is needed to better serve + love those around me, that i am DESERVING of tending to my own garden, no matter how messy i believe the soil to be 🌷 i am worthy because i continue to put one foot in front of the other, because i continue to rise when i have fallen, and because i was innately + intentionally made to radiate.✨ and so are you! -k. —
i’m honored to come alongside other women, today + proclaim our worth for #theauthenticwoman campaign!

Good morning Father, we are thankful to see yet another day that You have made. We say thank You for Your grace and mercy that woke us up this morning. We do not take it lightly that it was You who woke us up. We ask that You would forgive us for all of our sins that we did that was not pleasing in Your sight. Wash us that we may be whiter than snow. Father, today we pray that You would guide our footsteps throughout this day. Let everything we say, do and think be pleasing in Your sight. We praise You for the doors of divine favor that You have strategically designed for us to walk through. We praise You for EVERY blessing that You have given us. We praise You for new mercies that You grant us each day. Protect us, keep us and open up our eyes and ears so that we may see and hear what You are speaking to us this day. We give You the praise, glory and honor and we count it done in Your Matchless Name we pray, Amen.

I was trying to explain to a friend recently how I struggle when I hear "the Gospel is the answer" or "Jesus is the answer." I believe this simple truth in the full faith that God has given me, yes! But in my experience, what that actually means in my life can be incredibly complex. Paradoxically so.
For example, I believe that "Jesus is enough," but it's as if that truth knocked on the door,  I opened, and it stepped into the front hall of my heart, mind, and emotions.
But it is taking a lifetime for that truth to make its way through the living room and eventually into the dark basement of my greatest fears, hurts, and idols. "Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly" Col. 3:16a

All that to say, don't underestimate both the simplicity and the complexity of the way the good message of Jesus plays out in our lives. Don't you think this calls for great patience in ourselves and ourselves, as much patience as God shows us? ❤️

Every time I come across a bench I think of my friend @emilypfreeman and her book Simply Tuesday (swipe for more about that). And I also think of these things: pause and pay attention, stop and listen for God's still small voice, capture the beauty right in front of you, invite someone to sit in your stuff with you. A bench is an invitation to slow down, make eye contact with God, and remember who you are when life gets busy.
.
Emily writes, "Our Tuesday bench is found wherever we call home. "Noticing, celebrating, and embracing our Tuesdays is an outward expression of an inward posture. Maybe if I practice noticing the small in my daily life I will come to identify the small in my soul. Maybe small won't be something I fear or shrink from, but will be something I learn to embrace--slowly, quietly, with practice and intention."
.

I have a lot to say about this but #itssimplytuesday and home looks like worship while cleaning the oven, praying while wiping a magic sponge over black marks on the wall, voxing with faraway friends, listening to birds chatter while eating lunch in the garden. .

I'm noticing God's presence in the small, unseen, quietness of daily life. You?

This is for all those out there who struggle to find usable time and energy to spend time in the word. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I have chronic health problems and even though I love scripture, when I am in the midst of strong fatigue and pain, I can barely string my thoughts together, let alone read. I noticed I had been struggling with irrational worry and tornado like brain. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Then one night I had a dream about using index cards to write bible verses and encouraging quotes on. I ordered these cards from Koorong for another project I had planned, but it turns out, they perfectly matched my dream. They have space on the back to write your own reflections, but I have used them to write scripture in a translation I love.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I pull one out at night, read it, and read it first thing in the morning. When I get ready for my day, I take it with me and read it as many times as I can. It has been a blessing, even just in the past 5 days!

A few months I go I had this overwhelming weight on my shoulders. God placed this ache in my heart for people, for the church, and for those who live in the dark. I felt paralyzed. I didn’t know what to do with such a big call. I didn’t know how I could make an impact or difference in such an overwhelming number of unreached people
4.5 b i l l i o n people. And then I was reminded of the God who placed that passion on my heart for purpose. He can do anything and everything and what an honor he chooses to use us for his work right? It starts with prayer. When we feel overwhelmed by this calling we can run to God and prayer. He equips us with what we need when he needs us to have it. Our prayer life matters. When need to pray with faith knowing he hears us and he has a plan and purpose. Prayer with boldness for the world for people and for the church to rise up and walk in the full purpose we were created for. Thank you jesus that we can come to you and pray and talk to you. Hear your voice and see your words.

Jesus was not a stranger to the wilderness. Before beginning his ministry, Jesus endured 40 days in the desert with no food or water while being tempted by Satan himself. Where we may easily fall as quickly as Esau in response to the needs of our stomach, Jesus did not sin in any way under fierce temptation.
.

Jesus walked further still into the wilderness as He carried the cross on His back, stumbling under the weight of it. As He was nailed to the cross, the Son of God endured the deafening silence of God while breathing his last breath.
.

But God had not utterly forsaken Him in those final moments on the cross, in the ultimate wilderness. In three days, Jesus was resurrected bodily as the first fruits of new creation. He is the promise of everything being made right again!
.

Though the wilderness may be thick around you, Jesus' death and resurrection are a sure promise that death does not have the final say. Jesus endured the ultimate wilderness for you and for me, so that we never have to. What a Savior. Hallelujah!

We all have our own stories and some of them are pretty deep. A few weeks ago I shared a song called Beautifully Broken... if you don't know the lyrics, look it up or scroll down a bit! It's powerful, and it's so true and so good.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You see YOU and I are beautifully broken. Every tear, Every Doubt..every time we've fallen down... when we are hurting, feeling shame... when we feel alone...It seems so hard and impossible... but do you know that WE can be whole again? Do you know that God... the God who made the stars, is the God who made your heart and he's holding you right now. He can heal all of the broken parts and make beauty from it all.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We all have a story... and I would LOVE to hear yours.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I know this is asking a lot, and we are getting personal here on social media... but would you share your story with me? What is your Beautifully Broken Story?
