Moving forward is a hard discipline to learn…but man, is it needed. It takes giving up past biases, habits, and lifestyles. It takes forgiveness and self-forgiveness, a growing trust in God’s active grace, and an even greater hope that what is ahead is worth it. But let us tell you - what is ahead is worth it. For you are being transformed daily, from one degree of glory to the next, into the very likeness of Jesus. Join us in praying through this.
Day 9, Prayer from Philippians 3:8-14
“Jesus, You are greater than everything around me,
Stronger than anything behind me,
And more secure than anything before me.
I hand over all things for the worth of knowing You,
That I may be found in Your peace today,
Having a goodness that is of You and not of myself.
I want to know You in an increasing way, Jesus.
Teach me the power of Your resurrection,
The bold might displayed in defeating death
And the strength in ushering in newness of life.
Remind my heart that this power is within me.
And Lord, teach me what it means to suffer.
For suffering connects me deeply to Your purpose,
Drives me into humble surrender,
And unites me to the Kingdom of hope all around me.
So today, I see the death of my old self attached to Your death,
That I may exponentially see my new life as one with Yours.
I press on toward this reality,
Knowing that You have me secure in Your hands.
Though I see it only as a glimpse,
I strain toward what is ahead,
Knowing that You have called me to it,
And that You are transforming me for it.
For Your glory, Amen.”
