How do you feel when you contemplate the choices that you have made to get you to where you are today?
Do you have an appreciation for the journey you have taken, or do you let it affect the decisions you make today?
When I first started this journey into being a sales trainer (something I have so much passion for), I felt like I was ready to take on the world.
I knew what I could bring to the table, where my strength lies and how I could give significant value to those who need.
The mistake I made was thinking to myself; People want perfection, so in order to provide that, let’s look at all the weakness I currently have, fix them and then show my talents to the world.
A year later, I had nothing to show. Well, I had things, I was just never really proud enough of them so I kept myself in a room and everything I had done in a secret folder on my computer.
No matter how well I was improving or the life-changing the product could be, I could always find that next mistake/weakness so it was back to the drawing board all over again.
At some point, the realisation will kick in that you will never be perfect. Not to yourself, and definitely not to the world. So, be proud of who you are, especially the best version of you and what you can do right now.
Don’t let your weaknesses or the world stop you from doing what you want to do. There will always be haters and supporters. Control what you can and be the beacon of inspiration for your supporters.
It was a waste of a year for me. Some lessons take longer than others. Fortunately, lessons can be passed on and I hope that I can inspire you just that little bit more to be better than today, every day.
