Repost from @jane_doe7x @TopRankRepost #TopRankRepost Please, don’t call animals voiceless. That’s exactly what the animal exploitation industry wants people to believe, that animals are dumb, unthinking and unfeeling.
We speak on their behalf to educate non-vegans, and we should all be doing that, but we should never refer to them as voiceless.
They are nonhuman persons. They have emotions, they can communicate, they have their own relationships and interests. The fact that we don’t give them enough moral consideration to understand them does not mean they are voiceless. It is we who are limited if we refuse to believe that animals feel fear and have the same desire to live as we have.
Every time an animal cowers in fear, it tells us they wish to avoid being harmed, just as wish to avoid being harmed. Every time an animal flees from a slaughterhouse, jumps from a transport truck or chews their own foot off in a desperate attempt to escape a trap, it’s more than enough to tell us that they absolutely don’t want to die. Their lives mean everything to them.
When we live as non-vegans we make a statement, by our non-vegan practices, that animals don’t matter morally. Living vegan is mandatory if we claim to respect, care about or love animals. Anything less means we force them to suffer and die needlessly.
Do the right thing.
