The 4th track on the album, "Deeper And Deeper," is an undeniable classic and perhaps Madonna's best dance anthem of the 90s. With its huge, stabbing horns and swelling strings, it alludes to the records that were in the air when Madonna arrived in New York in the late 70s, conveying all the requisite drama. And when the records references "Vogue," Madonna becomes post-modernity itself. This is a superior piece of dance music, with Donna Delory and Niki Harris's backing vocals at the end adding a real girl-group authenticity to preceedings. "Deeper And Deeper" was the second single to be taken from the album, reaching Number Seven on the Billboard Hot 100 and burning up the clubs listings. Bobby Woods's promo video is a great piece of cinéma vérité showing #Madonna and friends in full dance-mode mode. Shot at the Roxbury club in Los Angeles, it plays tribute to Andy Warhol and features Madonna's longtime friend Debi Mazar, director Sofia Coppola, and German actor Udo Kier.
