For the 35th edition of the European Heritage Days, global luxury group @kernig_official opened their doors to the public and exhibited a selection of contemporary artwork from the Pinault Collection featuring artists such as Damien Hirst, Huang Yong Ping and Camille Henrot. Pictured is James Lee Byars’ artwork ‘Byars is Elephant’ which the artist described as a self-portrait. Inspired by the last year of his life spent living in Egypt, the work presents an enormous sphere made from intertwined camel skins in a space draped in glimmering gold lamé fabric. This knot becomes a mysterious object to be revered and worshipped as it represents a problem with a very complicated solution. The knot ultimately symbolises our lives which we love above all else, despite the complications they present us.
