It's Recovery Week for our PSE PRO crew. After a tough 8 week training cycle, they now have a chance to dial the volume and intensity way back allowing the adaptations to take hold and getting mentally and physically set for the start of a new training cycle.

Recovery Week is always a great time for our athletes to take stock of where they're at, where they want to be and determine what the margin, the gap, looks like. Are they working on bridging that gap? Are they heading in the right direction?
.
We encourage our athletes to spend some time thinking about those things. With shorter training sessions during Recovery Week they have some extra time up their sleeve for thinking.
.
We also like to encourage our athletes to use Recovery Week for whatever they feel they need - skill work, getting into the great outdoors, or just playing and having fun are great options.

Det er meget sjældent, jeg har syv pas på en uge. Det har jeg faktisk noget nær aldrig. Min krop og mit sind når ikke at regenerere og finde sig selv ordentligt, hvis jeg træner så meget.
Så nu er jeg helt igennem ør. Alt er træt og ret så tappet for kræfter. Min ryg, mine ben, mine knæ, mine ankler, mit lyst til at stå tidligt op og min vilje til at tage den ekstra rep. Men det er okay. For jeg kigger ind i 3 ugers ferie væk fra hverdagens taktfaste trav, og det betyder også mindre træning. Ganske givet bliver der et par løbeture.
Måske en enkelt tur i gym.
We’ll see, hvad der bliver lyst til.
Restitution bliver der i hvert fald masser af, og derfor er det for mig helt OK at gå ind i ferien med noget at restituere fra ✋🏻🤚🏻

Reasonably solid week of training however it went a bit pear shaped with Auckland’s weather and life. 8.1km of 🏊🏼‍♀️, 95.1km of 🚴🏼‍♀️ with an FTP test thrown in the mix and just under 7km of 🏃🏼‍♀️ plus a 🏋🏼‍♀️ session. Beaten by Mother Nature. I chose @grantrailcourmayeurultra because it was so brutal and should have stuck with doing the 55k instead of the 105k as that’s how far I ended up going 😉Absolutely stunning views but I was out of my depth in these mountains ⛰️ The narrow path with vertical drops were dangerous in the daylight in windy conditions with scree and multiple snow crossings & rope climbs where I feared for my life & really doubted my capabilities to do this in the night stage. Then a massive storm hit, lightning, thunder, hail & torrential rain turning the paths into rivers. It was dark as I was about to climb up into the mountains again, I was soaked through...even in all my waterproofs the rain was now that heavy and freezing already. Putting safety first I withdrew which was definitely the right decision for me. Live to run another day🏃‍♀️ Big congrats to @michaelajohnson1 who absolutely loved the 55k route!

It feels so good to run again.... The ankle is holding up.Learning to balance on one foot works wonders.

I love swinging and lifting kettlebells and throwing around my sandbag but all my life I have loved and hated running. I go through these phases where sometimes I won't run for months and then all of a sudden I am back running on dirt wondering why did I ever stop. Usually because I injured myself running lol

It's getting harder to run as I get older, my pace is slowing down but I am ok with that. One thing I am not ok with is not being able to run.

It is such a primal function, we were born and meant to run. It saddens me every time I see someone who has trouble walking or moving for whatever reason it may be.

So, I am grateful to be running on dirt again. We take our ability to be able to move for granted way too much.

Over the years I have learned to simplify my workouts pick up a kettlebell and swing it. Lift it over my head. Grab a sandbag, pick it up, get it over my head and maybe run a bit with it. And of course RUN!

You don't need to complicate your workouts. Just pick shit up, get it over your head and run!

Maybe you'll get inspired and go for a run or walk today !

Yesterday I tried a spin class for the first time + in the middle of the class the instructor (who I’ve known for 2 years) called me out to come dance in front of the whole class. I uncharacteristically granted her request + showcased my very white girl moves for 2 reasons. 1) my legs were BURNING + I wanted to get off the bike😂 2) it was a good song + she offer to dance with me. 💃🏻 happy Saturday everyone!!! .

10 mile #saturdaylongrun to wrap up 28 miles in Week 2. This felt hard. I’m surprised at how hard, actually. How can it take so long and so much effort to build something that disappears so quickly when you let your foot off the gas? But luckily, I find joy in the challenge. And pride in teaching my kids that hard work is worth doing, because it brings sweet rewards. At 2am we started the decent into ‘Mordor’ and to see the sulphur mines and the blue flames. A tough route up initially before a rocky decent.
We then climbed back up and to the top of the crater for an amazing sunrise.
I’m so glad that keeping fit as I age allows me to keep doing this! It was surprising the number of ‘fit looking’ younger people who were really struggling with the climb.

Running into this weekend like….YYYYAAAAAAASSSSSS!
This morning’s run was so nice because there was a slight reprieve from the intense heat and I took advantage of it. On the downside, I had been running on a treadmill for a couple of weeks because of the heat so it was a bit more challenging than I would have liked. •
When I tell people that I run in the morning most people tell me they just can’t to get out of bed to exercise in the morning, but I feel that way about the end of the day. I’m exhausted, who has the energy for a run?!?! Plus, if I run when I’m half awake it’s a helpful way for me to wake up and get me started for the day.

I'd already lost about 2 stone in the picture on the left. I'd been at weight watchers for just over a year (slow and steady eh? 😉). I was in San Diego on holiday and generally having an amazing time. I felt great because I'd lost weight and was trying to keep fit.

Cut to today and I'm still the same, feeling happy because I've lost weight and trying to keep fit. I'm just a little bit further down that road.

The numbers don't matter really, it's the smiles that do. And if I have less of a chubby face in one of these photos than the other then that's just a bonus.

Having shoulder pain with upper body lifts?? 🏋🏽‍♂️ It could be that you are needing more shoulder stability.

Being able to create TORQUE through the shoulder is required to create that stability. Here is a good way to work on improving it! 👍🏽

🔸Grab a kettlebell that is medium weight for you.
🔸Push the kettlebell toward the sky, then twist to work on creating that stability.
🔸Perform on your back, on your side, is sitting, in standing, in any position you want!

I miss our cool spring days for hiking and running trails. Im not fully functioning in the early mornings and late afternoons always seem to be busy, so hoping things cool down a bit so I can get my fill of these hills.

If you’re anything like me, you know what it feels like to be an ambitious go getter and always have the highest standards for yourself. . . Which is why it’s painful when you can no longer perform the way you used to.

Whether you are tired of being tired, tired of being injured and staring at the TV screen, or experiencing health challenges that have you staring at your expanding belly, and unable to wear your favorite clothes. . .

This isn’t you at all! Feeling at odds with your body and yourself feels frustrating and leaves you in doubt about who you are anymore.

You’ve known yourself as a confident, strong and powerful athlete.

So feeling less than BADASS in your body had you feeling confused, and maybe even a little depressed.

If you’re in a constant battle or fight with yourself and/or your body, it’s your mindset that’s being challenged and likely holding you back.

Your mindset is what you think about yourself, and in this case. . . your mindset as it relates to your body, health and fitness. If you’re healing an injury or recovering from a health challenge {past or present}, it’s also how you’re thinking as you step back into action.

Your mind will talk you out of all sorts of things. It will have you overthinking, fearing, justifying, judging and looking at most things as “Good/Bad,” “Right/Wrong.” Waiting till later. Thinking about how things used to be.

Your mind wants to keep you safe and comfortable where you are. Even if where you are isn’t where you desire being.

This is especially true after an injury or health challenge because your body has been in protective mode to help you heal physically.

If you REALLY want your sexy back, it all begins with your mindset!

Hear me out on this. . .

You know WHAT to do, shoot you’ve done it all your life. The REAL problem is, getting yourself to do it, better yet, believing it’s even worth it to try.

Which is why the strategy is the easier part of the two, and even that shifts over time, the real kicker, is in the way you think about what you need to do.

And if we’re being completely real here —> THAT’S THE REAL PROBLEM.
