One of India's most distinguished and prolific artists, Achutan Ramachandran Nair, popularly known as A. Ramachandran, Padma Bhushan awardee, has explored diverse mediums and scales with a dynamic personal vision and distinctive artistic style. He started as an expressionist painter exploring the predicament of human condition and misery, but
in stark contrast to the dark, tortured images of his older works, the latter half of his artistic journey has gradually shifted to a lyrical engagement with life and nature. He has studied Rajasthani miniature traditions which have further redefined and reformed his visual language. Several aspects of Indian classical art have been integrated into his art, including compound motifs and imagery, decorative elements along with the exuberance of forms and colours. He is as proficient in watercolours as drawing in ink and paper, or executing fine bronze sculptures and giant mural paintings. Go, check out some of his vast, lyrical canvases at his 'Changing Moods of Lotus Pond and Insignificant Incarnations' show at Triveni Kala Sangam, New Delhi.
