Celebrating with France today! And thinking about my long-standing life affair with the nation. I chose to study French as one of my A levels, after it became one of my A*s at GCSE. It transpired I was the only one to choose the A Level! So I was very fortunate to have 1-to-1 classes!! Unheard of today. My French teacher was also my friend and mentor - necessary in a girls school! We would discuss absolutely everything in French. She instilled in me a love of newspapers, news and world affairs. Afterwards, I took some French modules at uni, and then did an intensive week-long French course as an adult. But that’s it. And I’m desperate to continue with it. Paris, France, naturally, was baby Gia’s first trip. And I’m teaching her a few words and sentences in French. I hope she develops the same love of the most beautiful language in the world!
