Top 20 NFL Play-Callers
#5 - Doug Pederson, HC Eagles
Leading off the top 5 play-callers is Superbowl Champion HC Doug Pederson. What an incredible season the Eagles had! What a great season their offense had. Ranking #2 in pts scored, #7 in total yds. Then in one of the most epic offensive outbursts in Superbowl history, they combined with the Patriots for 1,151 yds, 74 pts, 54 1st downs, 143 plays, avg of 8 yds per play, you get the gist. Pederson led a hyper-modern offense that spreads the field, utilizes personnel+formations to dictate the way defenses lineup, + exploits 1-on-1 matchups in space. He's an Andy Reid disciple but uses 3 WR's & 2 TE's much more. We all saw Pederson's aggressive mentality going for it on crucial 4th downs in the Superbowl and a record 29 times in 2017. He likes mixing personnel, using a multitude of players. Despite a top 10 offense, they did not have a 1000 yd rusher or receiver. 4 players caught 30 passes and had 400 yds, 10 different players caught TD's. As you hear alot, things are good for real football, but not always good for fantasy as is the case with the Eagles. The week-to-week violitily makes it hard to invest in their skill players. While Wentz, Jeffrey, Ajayi, Ertz are all very good players, their current adp's are too high. They will be good matchup plays, but were seeing 3rd round for Ertz and Jeffrey, 4th for Ajayi, thats just too pricey. WR Nelson Algholor does offer some value in the late rounds. RB Corey Clement who went off in the Superbowl and rookie 2nd round pick TE Dallas Goedert are players who could breakout with injuries to Ajayi or Ertz.
