This picture is so precious to me. My parents live in Kfarhouna, a small village in Lebanon most of the year. They come to Michigan in the winter and spend it here with us. These olives my father is holding represent life to my dad. It comes from the earth and the land he was raised in, the land his ancestors worked on and the land he wants to preserve for his children. It’s not just an olive tree to him, it’s life! More importantly, what I love most about the picture is his hands. He is the most amazing, most compassionate human being I know. He just celebrated his birthday and I want to wish him health and happiness forever and always. I miss you baba! I can’t wait until you and Mama are back in Michigan.
