💧Cutting weight for meets is something only pockets of people should have to worry about. Frankly most people should not bother with it unless they’re looking to break a world record of sorts or they would get crushed in the higher weight class.

💧Manipulating water for competition is oftentimes butchered because we forget that our body’s water is monitored by our hormones. And by overloading our body with water it makes us more likely to excrete it faster! Many people make the mistake of cutting too late or cutting it too soon
1. Cut it too soon your body will just absorb every last drop of it during the week and you’ll be dehydrated all week...that’s a recipe for bad performance come meet time.
2. Cut it too late...and you won’t make weight...period.

💧I won’t get into specifics. But in order to really lose a significant amount of water you first need to overload it. So double your water intake for a period of time say 3-4 days. And from there you then rapidly start cutting your water intake as you go. If water intake it high...your body is less likely to hold onto it since it’s used to having so much right?

💧Another school of thought is to do two gallons of water everyday except the day before...but I believe my way allows for more steady water weight decreases...and allows for a more steady down regulation of hormones and therefore allow for faster rehydration after weigh in...just saying.

💧Again, this is not something general
Weight loss people should do...ever. Dehydration can prevent optimal fat loss. But for a competitive athlete who may place high in a competition this is a relatively safe way to do this!

💧Note: Theres more to this than just water manipulation...but let’s keep it simple for now!

We might aim for fortnightly, weekly, or even daily (mindset dependant - getting awfully focused on things to the point of detriment isn’t the one).

Whilst progress shots can be daunting - if you’re nailing your shit and trust what you’re doing then you have NOTHING to worry about.

KETTLEBELL SERIES: THE SWING.

An awesome exercise - Your glutes, hamstrings, quadriceps, lower back, shoulders, arms and core muscles are all worked effectively during kettlebell swings.
_
Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and hold the kettlebell handle in both hands. Keep your weight spread evenly through your heels and forefoot. Bend your knees, descend into a quarter squat and push your hips back. Lean forward and lower the weight between your knees. Keeping your arms straight, your shoulders back and without rounding your back, thrust your hips forward and swing the kettlebell up to your preferred height. Allow gravity to pull the kettlebell back down as you push your butt back, bend your knees, and get ready for another swing.

1) step counter – make sure we are being active throughout the day, going for a walk and hitting step goals can help burn an extra few calories – I would recommend hitting above 8000 steps per day (4mile)

2) Food Tracker – tracking how much you are eating to make sure you are not over indulging on the “naughty” foods and staying within your caloric bracket will keep the over-composition down by mindfully eating.

We all gain unnecessary weight, personal trainers are no different! I’m not one to pay too much attention to the scale, but when my clothes started to get tight I knew there might be an issue. I’ve got a wedding coming up in June and decided to try on my suit to make sure it was still a nice fit.....to my shock i could not get the the button done up on my trousers! It was time to make some lifestyle changes. It was either buy new suit or cut down on the unnecessary alcohol, crap food and increase my activity level. I decided on the latter. .

Notice I said cut down and not cut out alcohol and crap food. Everyone’s different and has different goals, mine is to drop a couple of inches around my waist and not step on stage for a fitness competition. .

I’ve made sure I’m getting adequate protein, eating as much veggies as I possible can and topping it up with some starchy foods. All the food I’ve been eating has been nutrient dense food!! I’ve kept up with any social events, if I know I’m eating out in the evening I’ve watched my intake during in the day, which has allowed me to enjoy the social outings!

Ok let’s talk make up and the gym. I wear make up (although not much) because I don’t want to scare people with my aged 41 blank canvas. It makes me feel better, more pretty, more awake and it’s part of my routine I guess. I see other ladies at the gym who wear make up too (and lots of it) and some don’t. Who cares?!?! We are all there to get out workouts in, to work hard and to better ourselves at the gym. Regardless if we look like we are ready for a night out, a night in or whatever, we are all at the gym doing our own thing. 😴6 WAYS TO IMPROVE YOUR SLEEP😴

Have you considered your lack of sleep as the reason to why you are not seeing results?

Your body does makes a lot of it's changes when you are asleep and that includes fat burning / muscle building / recovery. So sleep QUALITY is very important, if it's average then your results will also be average.
If you are working too many hours and operating on little sleep then that is the reason you are feeling awful and not seeing results, this can get very frustrating and make you lose motivation. -

That's why we have created 6 ways you can improve your sleep so you can MAXIMISE your results.

1◻️Cut out caffeine before 4-5 hours before bed. It's a stimulant and you don't really want that when you're trying to sleep!
2◻️Invest in a blackout blind to stop that light coming through when the sunrises so it doesn't wake you up.

3◻️ Limit water 1-2hrs before bed as this will stop you waking up in the middle of the night to do to the toilet. Simple!

4◻️Go to bed around the same time each night so that you're in a good sleep pattern and your body knows when to switch off, relax and wind down. Healthy HABITS AND ROUTINES always win!
5◻️Take a warm bath 1-2hrs before bed to allow you to have a nice soak, destress from the day and chill out.

6◻️ Meditation or Stretching . This may help you to relax and unwind from the day and it's also awesome for recovery from daily stresses and exercise.

Always eating Chicken, Steak or Eggs? 🤔

Adhering to a nutrition plan can be hard due to it being boring BUT there are SO many sources of protein that are not the 3 common ones that most people choose to stick to. -

Je ne pense pas pouvoir augmenter quelque poids que ce soit, ce qui est assez frustrant par contre (surtout les bibi où je n'ai jamais augmenté en poids, et où je galère toujours autant) 😕🙄😞.

Petite innovation: BattleRope en fin de séance pour la partie HIIT.
C'est assez "marrant" à faire.
Par contre, après les bras, faut avouer que ça pique salement quand même 😍👌😁.

Clients are always asking me for meal ideas so here is what I will often have for breakfast, lunch, and dinner on days that I am not working out myself: 1 cup of cooked egg whites, 3 cups of cooked mixed vegetables. Fried separately using a total of 6 teaspoons of olive oil. This translates into 478 calories, 27 grams of carbs, 24 grams of fat, 35 grams of protein. I have no issues eating the same thing all day long. If I run out of egg whites, I may replace them with a piece of fish or chicken. I will sometimes throw in a handful of nuts between meals depending on how busy I am that day. On the days that I train, I will throw in some carbs (usually oatmeal, whole grain toast, or potato) into my first and second meal. I eat like this 5 days a week. On the weekends I eat whatever I want, though my choices are still fairly clean as I am not a big fan of processed foods or foods containing any type of flour. They bloat me to a point where I look like I'm 6 months pregnant, they make me feel sleepy, lethargic, and constipated. I like to splurge on wine and chocolate instead. My day to day life is very physically demanding so I can get away with these allowances. When I design nutrition plans for clients, a typical detox plan will only last about a week before I reintroduce things clients love to eat. I include wine and chocolate in their meals or whatever they say they can't live without. We just make sure they don't enjoy these things in excess. Nutrition plans will only work if they are followed. It's much easier to stick to nutrition goals if you know that you have something yummy to look forward to. When clients tell me they want to implement a hardcore nutrition plan, I will only allow it for up to 3 weeks at a time. I appreciate the enthusiasm and good intentions, but most people can only go so long without being confronted with a moment of weakness. Those who can go longer, typically have compelling reasons and that's a whole different story. When it comes to most clients, I design their plans in a way that doesn't set them up for derailment and subsequent guilt. I believe that eating healthy should be a lifelong habit and it should also be a pleasure :-)

Do you love a conditioning session that is guaranteed to make you sweaty? Try this part of one of my sessions that my fabulous (slightly evil) coach @adamwillis_lbp has programmed for me:
☀️10x KB swings ☀️10x Push ups ☀️☀️10x sets☀️☀️ Instructions from the man himself: Press ups are performed immediately after the KB swings. Rest after the press ups until you can breathe through your nose again. Rest periods will lengthen as the sets progress, do not cut them short.

Who’s a coffee lover!? 🙋🏻‍♀️ Are you prepared to give up coffee for the first two weeks?
I did and it’s so hard 😭 I used to drink 3-4 cups a day and never realised how much of a habit coffee was. I substituted it for hot lemon water in the morning then Green Tea in the afternoon. For me, green tea took some time to ‘enjoy’!!
Good luck coffee lovers, the detox phase is the hardest!
