Invest in the journey.
Some days will be easy and amazing, whilst others are a struggle and you want to give up.
Remember progress is about not giving up. If you continue even on the tough days, you will succeed !
I did major damage to my body mid last year after getting pneumonia and being admitted into hospital. I literally ate myself into a pretty dark place. Work was toxic, I was off training for 3 months due to illness and to top it off - I binged excessively. I can easily put the weight on when I’m eating 10 donuts a day and ordering Uber eats for a family whilst not moving from the couch. I easily gained 12 kilos in such a short time and it put massive stress on my body both physically and mentally.
So I made changes - I quit my job, went part time, started back at the gym and joined @team_round early December for a kick up the ass . Progress was initially bloody slow because after pneumonia I couldn’t even body squat without having trouble breathing. Did I give up? No but it sure was tempting. It was like starting at the gym as a newbie and relearning everything.
It takes time and patience and although I’m not yet where I want to be ( got some major goals to smash) I’m absolutely enjoying the process and seeing what the body is capable of.
Lifting heavier than ever ( woop) and not having an issue with food . Remember when you hit rock bottom - the only way is up! Apparently I should stop using takeaway coffee cups as much I do. You know, to help the environment 💁‍♂️ So I’m doing my bit looking like a mug with my mug in this photo ☕️ And here’s something you may want to consider.. If you are someone wanting to lose weight, coffee and other liquid calories may be your downfall.
I have come across so many clients, and individuals, who are rather dismissive of the fact the 2-3 coffees a day they have in the office doesn’t make a difference. Not Long Blacks/Americanos either. We’re talking Cappucinos or Flat Whites sometimes with added sugar.
In the pursuit of losing weight, you have to identify what habits you need to either break or change in order to help you progress with your goals.
You could be consuming anywhere between 100-400 calories a day just in your coffee.
When you add that up across a month, and then a few months, you may just have your answer as to why you’re not losing weight.
It’s a small daily deficit that you could create, which in the long run, will make a big difference. And that goes to you full-fat Coke drinkers too 🥤

Ps - your coffee should be black, with a dash to take the edge off.

This is what we mean by flexible dieting!
This is my own breakdown of calories from last week!

As you can see, my target per day is 2,700 calories, that's me in a 10% deficit!

There are days where I am under those calories, a couple of days by a good 300-400 calories!

What this allows me to do is to have days later in the week where I can have more food! Those days, you can see in red!

By the end of the week, even though I've been over on a couple of days, I'm still under by 699 calories!

This means I've had a good week and I'm heading towards my goal!

Flexibility is key in terms of sustainability and adherence of your diet!

Go over on your calories one day and make it up by the end of the week 👍

Go under on your calories and be able to enjoy more food by the end of the week 👍

As long as the following week comes and your net calories don't exceed your allowance, you are absolutely fine!!
