Most of us of have been here at least once before: for whatever reason—a holiday, a special occasion or maybe just due to stress—we overindulge our appetite and overeat.

As a result, we're left feeling bloated, drowsy and maybe even upset with ourselves for having eaten way too much. That over-stuffed feeling may even make you feel like you gained some weight over the course of just that one day.

But the truth is, even if you step on the scale and the number has gone up since the last time you checked, it's very unlikely that you could gain even one pound of extra fat in a single day.

Most of the weight gain is due to consuming high amounts of sodium, so as a result you experience high water retention which is why you feel like a bloated water balloon. Some of the weight is also to to replenishing muscle glycogen.

The best thing to do after having a day like this is to get back on track with your nutrition and workouts. Also, make sure you drink plenty of water to flush out all the excess salt and water. This will also help you go to the bathroom and flush out all the waste.

Breakfast/brunch/lunch you decide

This is a fair plateful of food but still comes in at a reasonable price -
I would like to say that we did get the avocado on offer, which shows cause it was closer to the texture of a potato even after trying to ripen at home 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♀️

🚨high in fat🚨...or is it???🤨 yes there is avocado, yes there is coconut oil so there is saturated fat (which we have been told and read is vital for hormone regulation)

Sometimes people get the “fear” when we see the word “fat”, don’t get the fear, if anything it’s visceral fat that builds up in arteries from severe over consumption of saturated fat that is the worry, not using a little coconut oil in your cooking here and there

So, the recipe ( this feeds 2 hungry people or possibly even 3 😏)
200g sweet potato
1 yellow pepper
1 red onion
1 tin taco mixed beans in sauce🙊naughty
100g fresh tomato
1 tbsp coconut oil( split between cooking filling and cooking omelette
100g spinach
5 eggs
1 tbsp smoked paprika
20g @arla.uk skyr yoghurt
1 small avocado (80g ish)
Coriander to finish

Dice up the veggies and sweat in coconut oil in a pot then add the beans and lightly season, let simmer away to cook out sweet potato.
Meanwhile heat other half of coconut oil in your frying/omelette pan and whisk together your eggs, paprika and seasoning in a bowl then add to hot pan. Cook omelette.
Wash spinach and add to veggie bean mix, prep your avocado and chop coriander
Halve the omelette and serve with the bean mix topped with yoghurt, coriander and avocado
Munch!

Eggs - not all they cracked out to be? Unscrambling the myths on the cholesterol hype and cardiovascular protective or damaging effects they have.

I'll be discussing the evidence for and against eating eggs over the weekend. First stop is a meta-analysis from the BMJ:

This Meta analysis (combines evidence from lots of studies) showed that there was no significant evidence of an association between egg consumption and increased risk of coronary heart disease or stroke.
In analysis of sub groups people with higher egg consumption had a 25% (0.57 to 0.99; P=0.04) lower risk of developing hemorrhagic stroke. If you already have diabetes a high egg diet was suggested to not be of benefit in terms of protecting against coronary artery (arteries around your heart) disease.

But... The the analysis was limited by not being able to assess cooking methods or associated salt intake alongside the eggs. It was based upon an average of one egg a day.

But what about the hype of cholesterol? Cholesterol build up in arteries leads to cardiovascular disease. Rupture of a cholesterol plaque which has been deposited within artery can lead to a myocardial infarction (heart attack - where artery is blocked meaning heart muscle gets no oxygen and dies) or a stroke (similar process within the brain either caused by a blockage of an artery or a rupture and bleeding of the artery).
