Fawn season is here in upstate, SC! If you hear of anyone that finds a fawn that they think needs to be rescued, PLEASE have them call us before they 'rescue' it. MOST DO NOT NEED TO BE RESCUED!!!
(864) 715-2171 or (864) 683-3190
We are here to help with any that DO need to come in for care, like these two. But we do NOT want anyone kidnapping fawns just because they don't understand how deer care for their young. -You should NOT see a mom!
-The fawn WILL lie in the same spot for hours, even a day.
-Yes, they DO look cute and 'all alone'. *Fawns that DO need help include:
-those walking around crying. -those lying on their sides (like a sleeping dog)
-those that are injured or have been chased by dogs or others.
If in doubt CALL to speak with a fawn expert so babies aren't accidentally stolen from their moms. And whatever you do, do NOT try to keep it and raise it yourself. One of the biggest problems in our state is all the former 'pet' deer roaming around once it is too late for a rehabber to correct those habits.
